I want to find something online that I can jot down notes for, and then go sit with them and read the Bible and apply the lesson. I can't believe what a hard time I have had trying to find anything like that. I have two girls, ages 7 and 8, and I want to be able to read them a passage, and apply it to their lives. I'd appreciate any help.

I recommend getting a good devotional book that has scripture-related stories followed by questions for discussion time. My girls are 4 and almost 7 and we have enjoyed a book called "My Good Night Devotions" by Susan Lingo. I believe this particular book is more for the 4-7 range, but they have loved all of the stories so much, that we've read them all several times. LOL It covers such a wide variety of topics and we, as a family, have all learned so much through the follow-up discussions. It has been a simple way to teach the Word to them in a way that holds their interest and gets them involved. Look around on eBay and Half.com or go to a Christian book store. I know Lifeway has so many of these types of books for a variety of ages, it is hard to choose just one! Good luck!

a good search site I use is http://www.biblegateway.com/
you can even do searches by one word in the various revisions and languages of the bible.

Another internet searchable term might be children's sermons...one site http://www.childrenssermons.com/

Sometimes it is hard trying to find examples of our personal events within the biblical scriptures. I am not slamming the scriptures, but many of the concepts and experiences we as a society have NOW would never have been imagined 2000 yrs ago. Plus, many of the scriptural concepts are adult in nature and often times confusing for younger children. You might ask your priest or pastor or other youth ministries---sometimes they have such resources that you are seeking.

I might suggest something simpler in the mean time---just ask "Where did you see God today?" It gets them looking for the good in the world that is all around them.

Another question might be "How did you help God today?" It gets children thinking that they are truely ONE with the SPIRIT and 'little helpers' hehehee and we all know how children LOVE to HELP.

Simple questions, but they also give families the opportunity to SHARE their lives with their families.

Dear tlw,

i would strongly suggest going to your local Chrisitan Bookstore and read through some available child devotionals. It is possible that you can find one that is written in a way that is easily understandable for their age. i think also considering their age it seems like you will be doing most of the teaching so you should find something that you feel comfortable teaching.

God Bless You as you obey His command to raise your children in the Lord!

Kindly,

Nickster

Buy them a childrens Bible. Read that to them each night. It reads just like a story. My 2 year old has a toddler Bible and he loves it. They publish a Bible for children your age.

Acts 2:38 is the first lesson that needs to be applied. Because it is the answer to the questions of sinners.

Read Proverbs, or buy a devotional book. I'm sure there is something tailored to young women at a Christian book store.
