Why are you so intolerant of Christians? You are a bit mistaken in this statement as well. Few people become Christians out of fear of hell. If you were not raised to fear hell why would you go out of your way to join the Christians?
What Christians believe in and I do too, though I am not a Christian, is some sort of day of reckoning. I don't believe exactly what Christians believe, the heaven and hell scenario. I do believe only those who lived good and moral lives, helped resist evil and made useful and helpful lives for themselves will be moving on to the next phase after this one.
What becomes of the slackers, the criminals, the promoters of evil? I don't think there is a big furnace where they roast forever, but I think such unfit people may cease. They may not be accepted at the next phase.
My own personal beliefs are somewhat different than the Christian teachings but my strong belief in a Creator with some sort of plan placed us here as part of a winnowing out process. But I don't pretend to know any more than any Christian, Jew, Muslim or whatever. I respect their beliefs as long as they are not evil beliefs.
You should, too. Don't hate people who may be a bit annoying but have your best interest at heart. They believe they have it right and want others to join them. I think that is the proper thing to do.

I don't let Hell guide my thinking. I let being a good person for other people be my reason to being a good person. I am Christian but not because I am scared of hell or heaven or anything. Its because its a love related thing. No I am not married to one (Christian). Its the Christian love your neighbor as yourself motto.
Also I wonder why so many people have to be rude when they answer these questions. Also also hell is not completely imaginary, its an undecided unproven but not proven thing. So its not completely imaginary but what we make of it, well our imaginations give us ideas.

Don't know where you are coming from. I am a Christian. I am not scared. As a matter of fact, my faith gives me so much peace of mind that my life is just the opposite of scared. I only wish that for everyone. Perhaps that is why some of us Christians seem to be nosing into other people's business-- we want others to experience the true peace that comes from a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. And that is our job- to spread the good news (gospel). Try not make vague generalizations about Christians.

People can't stay a Christian out of fear, sure it might lead them into it, but there has to be something else that sustains. You'll also assuming that there is no other reasons. What about the reality of a creator? What about the reality of a man called Jesus, does BC or AD mean anything? What about the Bible?

Because many of us did not come to know Christ for that reason. I spent many years avoiding and condemning Christian belief, much as you are doing now. I went as far as I could to get away from Christian beliefs. Finally it came to a point that I found that Christianity was the only way that made sense of the world for me and that it was God's love that made it worthwhile to be here. It wasn't fear but love that drew me to Christ.

AZ Brat - Jesus told us to fear ONLY God who has the power to throw us into hell.
Then, he willingly suffered a torturous death to save us from that condemnation.
Apparently even Jesus was afraid you would go to hell.
Ironically the number one reason that most people don't choose to follow Jesus, or even investigate him, is because they fear what their friends will say.
So, atheists don't have any reverence for God, but fear what their buddies will say. Yet, Christians endure the scorn of the world and only fear God.
Which one is more "fear based"?

ummmmm...maybe because it's not true? i can only speak for certain for myself, but i never thought much about hell...as far as i was concerned, hell was here on earth, in a pointless, self-destructive way of living-hell was knowing there was 'more' and that it couldn't be found in drinking, drugging, sleeping around, and thinking first and foremost, to quote the late george harrsion, of 'i me mine'...wanting badly to be at peace with myself, with my family, with the world, and knowing only despair, depression, and anger...i ran and ran until i couldn't run anymore, i couldn't hide anymore, i couldn't get any angrier, sadder, or more alone-and Christ was there-accepting me just the way i was, loving me when i hated myself, and daring me to be more that i had ever been-that's why i'm a Christian...and i'm sure there are millions out there with similar experiences...we don't fear hell, don't worry about hell-hell can't touch us, death can't hold us-

I didn't become a Christain because I feared hell. I didn't believe in any God, but for some reason never felt that issue was settled in my mind. One day I finally decided to put "God" to the test. I said to myself, "OK God, if you're real, prove it to me."
Long story short, He did and I now I know the truth!
That's why I remain a Christain.

I serve God because I love Him, and really believe in my heart that He died on a cross in the person of Jesus Christ so that I should never see Hell.
That being said, there are some things you would be a damned fool not to fear if they were even remote possibilities.
I can't think of anything that would be true of more than eternal damnation.
