Yes, dreams have significance. Some are merely fancy, as in a romantic tryst. Other foretell some future event. Others just help you relax and forget the day's woes.
But, if you are having weird dreams, more or less the same one, over and over, that keep you awake, become nightmarish, then something is up.
I used to have nightmares when I worked long hours (I was in the Army, so I was "on-call" 24/7). When I could get adequate sleep, those nightmares went away.
So, first, I would ask if you are getting sufficient sleep? Do you have a health problem that is worrying you are keeping you from getting your rest?
If it is not something along these lines, check into your personal relationships. Perhaps someone has been unkind or unfair to you; perhaps you said something to someone that you regret having said.
It doesn't have to be friends or family: it could also be work or school related.
Try sleeping in a different position: again, when I was young, if I lay in one position, I might dream of snakes; if I changed positions, I might dream something silly, such as coins growing of bushes lining the driveway!
Perhaps going to sleep a little earlier or later; eating something different --- some foods cause nightmares for some people.
There are so many things that can cause such dreams...
The dreams could also mean you are trying to do something and you are not confident that you can succeed. Again, I used to dream of being on a bridge over a raging river; I would get part way across the bridge and it would collapse. Even to this day, I can not swim, so in my dream I drowned. I had this dream over and over; but as my personal life improved, in my dream I finally succeeded in crossing that river.
If this doesn't help, check the library for books interpreting dreams. There are a lot of good ones out there; but, use caution. Get some that are by renowned authors, psychiatrists, etc.
Dream interpretation, like fortune telling, is authentic; but there are too many quacks.

They have a great significance in my opinion, they are a look into your inner mind, the part that you unconsciously suppress. There was a book I read recently mentioning a woman who had recurring dreams that would also keep her up because she did not want to face the 'demons' in her dream, however she found that when she dealt with the situation between her and her mother the dreams stopped. Some would say that it was just a coincidence, but I believe the dreams were trying to tell her that her and her mother had to resolve their differences to lead a happier life. So I would say look at your life and see what is making you unhappy and try to do something about it, and perhaps your wierd dreams will also stop.

According to Dreamcrowd:
To dream that you have aches, signifies that you are showing too much hesitation in pursuit of your business deals and someone else will profit from your ideas.
