Are christians allowed to defend themselves? Or wrestle demonic beings into submission and throw them down?
It says that Love always protects, should christians be ignoring the duty to defend others, or even themselves?

Also how can you have a wife and children without being able to secure their safety properly? By faith alone? Or does faith come to the point where god wants us to have confidance and faith in ourselves? Normally faith in yourself seems godless, but in this context I find it suiting?

I empathize. Demonic spirits working through people will keep trying to get you whether you react or not, until you are backed into a corner. This is what I've found, when: I feel the need to either defend myself once, or walk away and be glad in the knowledge that I must be doing something right for Christ. Sometimes spirits give me no choice but to defend myself, but I try to do it in a humble way. I have read however that persecution won't stop and even gets worse unless you come to a place in your heart where you can finally accept persecution and that you will suffer through it for God. Its about dying to your self and your 'rights' - its pretty hard - but finally I've found it is the only choice I have. I have also learnt that the persecution is a way of working on my flaws such as pride as well as pruning in order that I bear other fruit. Also, this is a time when we have to guard our heart against things like bitterness, revenge, unforgiveness, etc.

When Rome made christianity the state religion... they defended themselves by murdering.... When a distant land did not follow the religion they defended themselves with war... When the christians came to America and faced winter and their god didn't' help them. the natives helped them through the first winters when they were no longer in fear... they murdered, raped and enslaved the natives.. then went to war with those knowing not to trust them... when the people began to revolt against the christian oppression they christians called them witches and burned them... When John Lennon a man of peace, not religion came home one night a christian took his life.... when will christians stop whining about being persecuted and answer for the crimes of their religion.... There are only 2 types of christians the wolves in sheep's clothing and the sheep being led to the slaughter..... so if you are feeling persecuted look at each other and leave the rest of us alone.

What persecutions?

And don't think that this "persecution" is what the bible said you would go through.

The leaders of the Christian Coalition are not being hung on crosses (Philippians 2:8). The leaders of the Family Research Council are not being stoned to death (Acts 7:59). The leaders of Focus on the Family are not being thrown to the lions (Daniel 6:16).

All you have to worry about is someone calling you bad names and denying you your requests for favoritism.

Do you own guns? That's the first thought that sprang to mind after reading this.

Tell you what. Did you know salt works against demonic beings? I'd feel a lot better knowing you were armed with salt.

You shelter your faith by employing residing your life the way Christ needs you to, with humility, love, and kindness to others. So even even with the incontrovertible fact that they persecute you on your concept, yet they could be ashamed by employing your reactions. "protecting a sparkling judgment of right and incorrect, so as that people who communicate maliciously against your good habit in Christ could be ashamed of their slander." a million Peter 3:sixteen

The reasons for forgiving, turning the other cheek, praying for your enemies is that God wants us to stop the cycle of violence. However, that doesn't mean we are to just throw away common sense. Try peaceful solutions first; and look for chances to demonstrate Christ's love to the un-lovable. It works miracles!

What persecutions? People who don't like your tactics? People who don't like so-called Christians who try to legislate morality? People who ask for a little consideration for their beliefs? Persecuted, my behind.

But if a demonic being ever shows up, I give you permission to fight him/her/it to the death. But it has to be a genuine demonic being, not a human.

I have boxing gloves. Everyone is allowed to defend. However, don't go looking for a fight!

Oh yes, spiritual warfare is for real. Once again, don't go looking for trouble, neither ignore it should present itself.

As soldiers we fight back. Ya our powers to abstain comes from Christ, but if I live by the sword, I die by the sword. I.m not going down like a coward, watch out. "may God have mercy on my enemies, because I won't." NOLI ME TANGERE.

i don't think anyone would tell a christian that he or she cannot defend his or her faith. those of us who are non-christian have no problem with you defending your faith.

our problem comes when you tell US that your faith is the only RIGHT one. our problem comes when, by your faith (christianity) laws are made that are unjust.

your faith is YOURS - not mine. as long as your faith doesn't infringe on me, things are cool. start sitting a judge and jury and it's on. simple as that, really.
