In the Bible, the archangel Gabriel is personified as a messenger for God. In EVERY mention of Gabriel's appearance to various people in the Bible, the message recipient becomes terrified at the angel's appearance. Gabriel immediately IDENTIFIES HIMSELF and COMFORTS the person.

Now let's take a good look at Mohammad's experience with "Gabriel"...
1.) The "angel" does NOT identify himself, as he does for all other people to whom he appears.
2.) The "angel" does NOT comfort Mohammad in any way when Mohammad became afraid.
3.) The "angel" commands Mohammad (who supposedly cannot read) to read. Mohammad tells the "angel" he can not read, and the "angel" repeats the demand.
4.) The "angel" CHOKES Mohammad, and Mohammad runs home to his wife... terrified.

This "angel" certainly does NOT appear to be God's benevolent messenger.

Who ELSE could that abusive "angel" be? Could it be Lucifer? Lucifer is said to appear as an angel of light, and is also called the prince of lies.

Angels of God have appeared to prophets and scared them at first. But afterward, the prophets are stronger, confident and felt loved. Muhammad attempted suicide. Muhammad himself thought he was possessed. He was panicked, depressed and wanted to kill himself but then the "angel" appeared again. He was ok for a while and then depressed again. Why is it that Muhammad is different than ALL other prophets? I believe Muhammad first heard the name Gabriel from his wife's cousin Waraqa, who was a Christian.

Gabriel appeared to Mary. She was afraid at first. The angel comforted her and Mary felt love, not depression. The angel did not catch her forcefully and press against her until she could not stand it (which is what Muhammad said the angel did to him 3 times). Mary did not want to kill herself. Neither did Noah, Moses, Abraham, Isaiah or anyone else that was visited by God or an Angel of the Lord.

Edit: I didn't answer who the spirit was. It was a fallen angel, a deceiver.

God Bless.

The angel that appeared to mohammad was satan.

For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works. 2 Cor. 11:13-15

I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. Gal. 1:6-9

I hate islam and it's teachings cause it's straight from hell!

Therefore all Your precepts concerning all things
I consider to be right;
I HATE EVERY FALSE WAY. Ps. 119:128

Could you question be, "What was the spirit that gave Mohammad all his 'visions'"?

Why do all these characters have visions or talks with gods or angels or whatever, completely alone? Why aren't there two or more or everybody? Is there evidence for delusions here? Or insan....?

There is no doubt that it was not Gabriel. It is evident from Mohammad's foaming of the mouth he was possessed by a demon possibly even satan.
= Mr 9:18 And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not. KJV
Doesn't sound like the work of Gabriel does it?

You might want to do alittle research on that one....the term Lucifer was not added as one of the names of the 'advesary' until well into the 8th century AD.

One might also remind ya that God sent out Lying Spirits...several time in the OT. In the OT scriptures, God is responsible for EVERYTHING---the good, the bad, the ugly, and the beautious. One example, Isa 45:7 I form Light and create darkness, I make weal(well-being) and create woe(misery/sin), I am the Lord, who do all these things.

Its not until the advent of the NT that god gets separated into the good part-Jesus and the evil part-the satan---which is just old canaanite mythos. In the canaanite mythos, there was Elohim the FORE GOD. He was an all-powerful god with a nasty temper---much like the god of the OT. Elohim was said to favor his son MOT, the canaanite god of darkness. Mot was in an eternal struggle with BAAL, the 'resurrected' son god of Life/Fertility.

One can also see other examples of canaanite mythos and ritual practices outlined in the OT books of hosea and habakuk, cited as the 'sons of ephraim'. they venerated a stick of wood, offered up human sacrifice upon high places--like MT Calvary, used human sacrifice for the forgiveness of sin, and relished in their sin, just as Christians do.

One should also note that ephraim was the son of Joseph and born in the city of Bethal.
