Jesus claimed to be God. If you say He was a good person and not God then you would be calling Him a liar. We know that no good person can be a liar. If you say Jesus was a prophet you would be calling HIm a liar. Jesus was either God or a liar. You will have to deciede for yourself who Jesus is. The Bible claims Jesus to be God in the flesh.

Excellent point Need! As CS Lewis writes in Mere Christianity = Jesus Christ is either Lord, Liar ("the biggest con man who ever lived") or Lunatic (someone on the level of one who claims to be a Poached Egg).

But there is no neat, easy middle ground with Jesus Christ. (a nice man, a good prophet, a wise teacher)

God wanted to make the decision clear and stark, without ambiguity "He who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."

And trust me, you will hear from plenty at YA who are literally perishing in their sins, but too proud to admit they are wrong or don't know or aren't sure.

But stand firm my brother and keep preaching the truth of God's word.

The truth that sets us free!

Nothing is that black and white.

Someone can be a good person without being God, obviously. And for all we know, the bible has been distorted over the years, as is very much possible. I personally believe that Jesus was a sort of a liberal activist. He did exist, but I do not believe that h/He was God or the son of God. The bible says h/He is such, yes. But until I am offered solid proof of any of that, I personally believe that h/He was an activist who became a bit of a celebrity and was glorified in the Bible and Christianity as being God in the flesh or whatever.

But that's just me and my opinion. And the only answers you're really going to get here are opinions.

Anyone can say anything they want about anything. it's all a matter of opinion and perspective.

Good people can be liars. Where did you get that fact? or un fact? Jesus never claimed to be God in the flesh, he always said that he was the SON OF GOD.

If that is what you are thinking, then I'd say re-read your bible. No where does "Jesus' EVER claim to be God. Only ONCE in Matthew, at his trial, he claimed to be ONE WITH GOD, but not God itself. It's only within the writings of Paul and the later precepts of the catholics does 'Jesus' become a god.

According to the Laws of God, Paul would be a FALSE PROPHET...see Deuteronomy Chapter 13 concerning false prophets. Basically, any prophet that advocates an OTHER god--like Paul does with 'Jesus' and says that people don't need to follow the Laws of God is a FALSE PROPHET.

One might also suggest that you also refer to the OT idoltry law---Deut 4:15-16 Since you saw no form on the day the the LORD spoke to you at Horeb out of the midst of the fire. beware lest you act corruptly by making a graven image for yourselves, in the form of any figure, the likeness of man or female...

You might also want to look into the history of the Christian religion and the evolution of its beliefs for further examples of the precepts of men that have gotten into the religion, here are a few to get you started...

325CE Council of Nice Promotion of the Goodman: Christ is Divine---one should note that the VOTE was NOT in favor either

363CE Council of Laodicea names 26 New Testament books as "inspired word of God"; Book of Revelation is excluded--one reason chronicalled "sometimes a dream is ONLY a dream."

364CE Council of Laodicea ordered that religious observances were to be conducted on Sunday, not Saturday.

381CE First Council of Constantinople drew up a dogmatic statement on the Trinity and defined Holy Spirit as having the same divinity expressed for the Son by the Council of Nicea 56 years earlier.

All this aside, 'Jesus Christ" is a translational TERM-a representation, not the actual name of a person. Basically, according to the idoltry law any form that is used in a religious context by define like 'jesus' would be an idol. if your 'god' is real---why not use his REAL name?!?

One should remind ya as Peter wrote faith is merely a FIRST step....2 Peter 1:5-7 For this very reason make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love.

Where in the Bible does Jesus claim to be God. All the scriptures I've seen say he is God's son, which isn't the same thing. Yes Jesus was a good person, he was perfect. This doesn't prove he was God.

Before Abraham was I AM if he was calming to be God why did he not say Before Adam and Eve was I Am that would of proved he said he was God but no he said Abraham so maybe Jesus was just a first creation separate from God but that just an Idea.
God Bless

Sorry but the three "L's" argument is flawed.

What if I were to say that the Bible was corrupted and Jesus never made those claims and instead they were added in after his death?

Or even if I were to say Jesus did make those claims, it turns out he was wrong. He thought he was the messiah, but he was wrong. After all Jesus is only human not divine =P

Well, think about it. There are lots of nice people who aren't your God, right? There are also lots of people who claim to be god, and how do we think of them? As mentally ill individuals who need help, right so far? You can also be a nice person and be misinformed. Or mistaken. Or didn't really say something attributed to him.

Do you get it? I am a nice person. If I told you I was the Goddess, would that make it true? Of course not. But I am still a nice person!

I know you believe it. I want to respectfully state that we all have our own spiritual paths that lead to the One. Mine is a different path than yours, and I wish you blessings on yours, as I hope you wish me on mine.

Bright Blessings, and namaste,

The Bible also says that there is none good but God. So if you are calling Jesus good, you are calling Him God, right?

EVERYTHING rests in Jesus.

John 10:30
I and my Father are one.

2 John 1:9
Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

1 John 5:7
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

Deuteronomy 18:15
The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;

Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

THE MIGHTY GOD
