ever since I had my 2 year old daughter, my gold wedding ring breaks my finger out. I wore it alittle after I had her... but then when I got pg with my second dd, it got worse. When I put it on it starts itching me. It never did that before kids. Anyway, all of my gold rings do it. So I'm thinking now I'm allergic to gold. Would platnium do the same thing? I really want to wear a wedding band, and don't want to spend an arm and a leg on platnium and it break me out. Any ideas?

I was going to answer no such thing, but i was wrong! I was thinking maybe if you sweat under your ring(thats what happens to me) i thought you couldnt be allergic to gold. This proves me wrong. At the bottom it recommends silver.

It is very strange that you would be allergic to gold because gold is "non corruptible" at least when it is 24 carats minimum. It's nickel or other alloys included in the "gold" ring that cause the allergy, or if the ring is too tight, or traps soap or other stuff underneath. Try Silver. In a pure form too.

Platnum is very luxurious. It has a great feel and great weight. I have a titanium ring that is an endless circle, very symbolic. Titanium is the strongest metal availible, just like love should be, indestructable.

The only downside to titanium is that it CANNOT be resized. Once it's cast, that it. Many of us are gonna gain weight slightly over the years. If so, you will need to buy a new ring and that defeats the symbolism of indestructable.

Once a friend explained to me that white gold did not cause the allergy but yellow gold did cause it. So, try that, it is less expensive than platinum by quite a lot of cash.

"paint" the inside of your wedding band with clear nail polish and see if that works. You might have to re-do it once in awhile, but if it works it's the cheapest alternative.
If you go to a discount store you could buy a cheap band that for sure would be rhodium and not gold!

You could try a different blend like 10k or 18k.
I can wear 10k but can't 18k. Also could try stainless steel.
