Here it is : Almost everyone has bad breath first thing in the morning. During the day, movement of the tongue and cheeks dislodges food debris and dead cells, and these are washed away by saliva. While we are asleep our tongue and cheeks do not move much, and the flow of saliva is reduced. The food residues stagnate in the mouth, and mouth bacteria rapidly break them down, releasing an unpleasant stale smell. Breathing through the mouth when sleeping tends to make this worse. Fortunately, morning breath normally disappears after breakfast, cleaning the teeth or rinsing the mouth with water. Get your saliva going with a drink of water and lemon.

Saliva helps reduce the growth of bacteria in your mouth. You produce less saliva while you're sleeping. When bacteria grow, they produce bad odors.
If you want to try to reduce that effect, swish around some Listerine for a solid 30 seconds before going to bed. That will kill a lot of the bacteria in your mouth.

With the food in your guts mostly processed, your body begins to detox from its daily onslaught of chemicals and other foul stuff you ingest when you eat processed food and drink municipal water.
We eliminate these toxins through our breath, sweat, urine, and feces. All of those will stink a whole lot worse in the morning than they do at other times of the day, if you care to measure for yourself.

your mouth is unattended when u sleep for usually 8-10 hours. so bacteria grows in it because its dark and moist and the bacteria gives off the smell youd call "morning breathe" nothing u can really do about it but brush your teeth when you wake.

So many bacterias live in your mouth and when you are resting the bacterias are not being moved around, washed around, they sit and build up causing odors to develop. also you may have sinuses problems, and if you are a smoker it will be gross in the morning!

Bacteria , while you sleep, has enough time to multiply to the extent that you smell and taste it . Try mouthwash before bed.

You don't swallow as much or eat or drink all night to rinse out the bacteria, so you build up more odor than when you are awake.

It's because you haven't eaten anything or drank anything from the time you went to sleep, to the time you've woken up. Usually, once you eat something nuturious (how in davey do you spell it?) and brush your teeth, it goes away.

Cos like, you've probably been dribbling n all that crap..
and it dries..so basically you haven't moved for 7,8 or 9 hours.
THEN you get up. THEN you smell it.
Not nice.
