And why do christians still quote from the OT?
And why do they pick and chose which laws are void and which aren't?
And don't give me that 'spiritual law' verses 'old law' nonsense, because you know you just pick out the stuff you can attack people you don't like with?
For example anything having to do with gay people.

You're getting lots of rationalizations, but no answers. Sorry bunch of bananas, these Christians.

As Sam Harris has noted, Jesus can be seen endorsing Old Testament law in Matthew 5:18-19. So there is a tacit understanding between the sociopathic, homophobic, genocidal tyrant G-d of the Jews and the sanitized New Testament God.

What makes you think the so called old testament is null and void? you have to read daniel and ekekiel and isaiah to understand the book of revelation, prophecies that relate to jesus birth life and ministry. And you have to know how God related with humans in the past because in malachi he said I haven't changed. This tells you the history of how we got here and in the mess we are in etc. And what God intends to do about it. That is what revelation is all about. It is full of symbolisms, and if you are not familiar with the other bible books you wont' understand them.

I personally dont' call it the old testament I read the whole thing, doesn't mean I understand how it applies in my own life and what I am supposed to get out of it, but i find if I don't understand something, I just keep it in my memory sooner or later I will read something that will clarify it in another bible book. I am in the middle of going through it a second time, I go slowly, I think about it, and I go over it in my mind and see if it helps connect the dots of things I learned earlier. It really is fun for me sometimes. LIke a light bulb that goes on when I am wondering about something in the past I didn't understand. Sometimes I see things in the news or on the net about world events etc and I see it clearer what God meant about something or someone. "The word of God is alive and exerts power" is found in hebrews and I see it in my own life and those of others who also apply it.

Why some say it is obsolete I do not know.

The Law of Moses(OT) was written for the Jews and was only to last until the time of Christ. In the Law of Moses, the blood of animals was required to atone for the sins of the people. These sacrifices were temporary. Now, we have the perfect sacrifice. God's only begotten son, being without sin, offered Himself as a sacrifice to forgive sins from the time of His death until His return. When Jesus died on the cross, the temporary Law of Moses was fulfilled and is no longer necessary.
Hebrews 8:6,7,13 ...He [Christ] is also Mediator of a better covenant,(NT) which was established on better promises. For if that first covenant [the Law of Moses] had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second....In that He says, "A new covenant,"(NT) He has made the first(OT) obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.

Jesus came to fulfill the law....The Old Testament and The New Testament are the word of God.....

I would give a complete answer...but your question indicates that you don't want any answer other than your own....

when you read a book , do you ignore 3/4 of it? the ten commandments and the dietary laws are in there....but that is of no interest to you is it...

I love how people say verses like Deuteronomy 13:6 (look it up) are negligable because its the old testament, but are so mad when i say we should teach evolution in school...last time i checked, Jesus didnt really say anything about evolution or creationism.

The OT contains the prophecies that show that Jesus was the Messiah and the son of God. Furthermore, Jesus did not come to remove God's laws but to bring them into fulfillment. He said " I and the Father are ONE" Jesus did not remove the old law, he brought forgiveness for those who broke it and repented.

The OT wasn't done away with by Jesus. The Mosaic Law was, the OT is still valid.

Where do you get that it was done away with? Because if you read the new testament.. you'll find verses of Jesus teaching from it.

Jesus said he didn’t come to destroy the law, but to fulfill it. (Matt 5:17) The effect was the same. Once fulfilled it was no longer in effect.

The very next verse, Matthew 5:18, LOOKS FORWARD to the time when the law WOULD BE SET ASIDE. "...Not even the smallest stroke of a pen will disappear from the Law UNTIL EVERYTHING IS COMPLETED." This “UNTIL” clause REINFORCES THE TEMPORARY NATURE OF THE LAW. It ONLY makes sense when we understand that it was intended FROM THE BEGINNING to be SET ASIDE.

Ephesians 2:15 Through his body on the cross, Christ put an END to the LAW WITH ALL ITS COMMANDS AND RULES. He wanted to create one new group of people out of the two. He wanted to make peace between them.

Colossians 2:14, 16, &21 (excerpts) He wiped out the written Law with its rules. The Law was against us. It opposed us. He took it away and nailed it to the cross… No one can be made right with God by obeying the law.... What if a person could become right with God by obeying the law? Then Christ died for nothing!

Romans 3:20 So it can’t be said that anyone will be made right with God by obeying the law. Not at all! The law makes us more aware of our sin. 21 But now God has shown us how to become right with him. The Law and the Prophets give witness to this. It has nothing to do with obeying the law.

Galatians 5:4 Some of you are trying to be made right with God by obeying the law. You have been separated from Christ. You have fallen away from God’s grace... The ONLY verse that talks about falling from grace, and they did it by trying to follow the law!

The 10 commandments along with the rest of the law ("commands and rules" from Ephesians 2:15) were "set aside" when they were fulfilled or completed at Jesus' resurrection. We are no longer bound by that law.

BUT THIS DOES NOT MEAN THEY ARE WORTHLESS OR MEANINGLESS !

Romans 15:4 Everything that was written in the past was written to teach us. The Scriptures give us strength to go on. They cheer us up and give us hope.

Paul's teaching is exactly in line with Jesus' own prophecy about the law. The other apostles and the elders in Jerusalem were asked about non-Jewish converts to Christianity and the law. Here was their UNANIMOUS RESPONSE:

Acts 15:23 "...The apostles and elders, your brothers, To the Gentile believers in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia:

Greetings.
24 We have heard that some went out from us without our authorization and disturbed you, troubling your minds by what they said. 25 So we all agreed to choose some men and send them to you with our dear friends Barnabas and Paul— 26 men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 27 Therefore we are sending Judas and Silas to confirm by word of mouth what we are writing. 28 It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond the following requirements: 29 YOU ARE TO ABSTAIN FROM FOOD SACRIFICED TO IDOLS, FROM BLOOD, FROM THE MEAT OF STRANGLED ANIMALS AND FROM SEXUAL IMMORALITY. YOU WILL DO WELL TO AVOID THESE THINGS.

Farewell."
