I need a night gaurd, but I have to wear a retainer at night (if I wear it in the day, I gag). Is there anything out there that I can wear with a retainer? Any dentists or orthodontists out there? My dentist says to ask my orthodontist and the orthodontist says to ask the dentist.

BTW, I already had the whole orthognathic reconstuction (upper & lower jaw) about a year ago.
I don't think an NTI will fit over a retainer will it? That is want I used to have before the braces/surgery.

you might want to see a TMJ and headache specialist
they work with people who have problems with teeth grinding, clenching, temporo mandibular joint disorders and other mouth headache related problems.
they can make a splint specifically made to your mouth. i"m not sure about the retainer but it's worth looking into to see if they can make a splint that works with a retainer and braces.
it is however very expensive. the splint i have cost 7 hundred dollars and that's just for the splint. that didn't include office hours or ex-rays or anything like that.
