After all, if the traditional "7 Deadly 'n Mortal" aren't really "sins" at all, just things that are healthy, pleasurable and normal in moderation, (perhaps) potentially bad for you in excess . . . then what's really left? Where's all the "inner horribleness and rottenness and filth" the xians are always talking about? Why the constant self-loathing, labelling and finger-pointing?

Can't a person, instead of branding a big "SINNER!" on their forehead, just say "well, probably I should cut back on the ol' gluttony a bit, but that lust, well, that's working for me and the missus just fine?" Wouldn't that be more . . . sensible?

Seems to me there's just life, pleasure, and---sometimes---bad choices. But why characterize even THOSE as "sin?" Why not just call 'em what they are . . . human?

LOL . . . I can lead 'em to the waters of freedom from false guilt, but I can't make 'em drink, can I? Logic just can't make a dent in the indocrination!

LOL:

"you go a little off base with that whole "self-loathing" crap.

*We are all sinners*, the label means nothing to me. Bad choice, wrong decision, immoral behavior...call it what you want. The point is *we all need a Savior*. *None of us are "good enough"* to reconcile back to God on our own"

I rest my case. Tony, Tony . . . if that's not "self loathing" what the heck is it?

I don't believe in the concept of sin. I believe in personal responsibility for one's actions. Christians aren't into responsibility - they're into shoving responsibility onto the Devil, ie, "The Devil made me do it! I couldn't help it! Not MY fault!!!"

You and I sound pretty close philosophy-wise. You write a lot better than I do, though.

That is the whole point, to be human is to be a sinner. Humans and this world are full of sin. That is why its all around us and so natural that most of us dont even think its wrong at all.... unfortunately

You make some decent points I think, but you go a little off base with that whole "self-loathing" crap.

We are all sinners, the label means nothing to me. Bad choice, wrong decision, immoral behavior...call it what you want. The point is we all need a Savior. None of us are "good enough" to reconcile back to God on our own.

And if you don't want to reconcile back to God, or don't think it's necessary...well, you can just chalk that up as another one of your "bad choices".

I don't believe in the 7?? or was it 10 :) sins where did you get the #7 from?
But I believe some ppl. born are great mistakes of nature. Or the way they choose to be... but, hey, can't do anything about them sadly.
P.S. - some ppl. should be baned from reproducing!

its my opinion that sin only exists if you want it to. and even then...it only exists for you.

i find it disgusting that christians are ready and willing to call a newborn baby a sinner and worthy of hell simply because they happen to beleive in original sin or sin in general.

one persons believe in inherent unworthyness does not make the next peron unworthy. while some of you may (oddly) want that your wanting it does not make it true...nor the fact that its popular beleif make it any more true than it is...and it isnt...at all...

No sin, eh? let's see, here - "things that are healthy, pleasurable, and normal in moderation"...

Who (admittedly worse in the U.S.) do you know that does everything in moderation?

I would rather God see the brand on my head, stating "sinner", than listen to anyone else tell me what their opinion of what it all means is. Sensibility and spirituality don't mesh well - that's why there is FAITH.

I won't listen to anyone telling me they are holier than I am, but I'm not going to stick my fingers in my ears, close my eyes, and pretend sin/evil doesn't exist.

Logic doesn't work with faith, nor does your current version of sensible. However, I agree with your statement in general - we here on earth SHOULD just call sin human - since we all failed - and sin was here very near the beginning.

I've been saying this for years, but apparently we would be acting like animals for indulging in our humanness. Your right, eat what you want, but work out! Have a lot of sex, just be safe about it. Be lazy, as long as you can pay your bills, be envious because if gives you something to work for, be prideful with who you are, be greedy and selfish but give as much as you can when you have more than enough for yourself, get angry and vent your frustration. be human!

Sin is a religious concept. As long as their is love in your heart, there is no sin. God is love. Simple as that.

All sins are just normal activities taken to excess. Try and think of one that is not.

The church created sin. Much as parents use the boogieman to control their children, the church uses sin to threaten you with damnation.
