The thing is, people call because they see something. a lot of people call at the same time for the same thing, so some other people can't get a hold of anyone.

If you have money and you live in a good area then 911 is fast getting there. But in cities it's not as good and they take there time.

Well when he first said that it was bad in the hood it would take like an hour for the police to show up. the early 90's. It is pretty good in my small town.

Really, it depends on the type of call and the city or jurisdiction in which you live. For ie, if you want to report a property crime in progress at 1130pm in a bad area of Chicago, you will probably be disappointed.

No, it's not a joke. They will really come out to your house and arrest you if someone has broken into your house and stolen all your stuff - about two hours after you call them. It's really great.
