I'm turning 18 soon and with the War in Iraq, should i fear being sent over against my will by the draft? I know Nixon outlawed it but is there any chance that it could come back? I'm actually scared because well, knowing this White House, i wouldn't be surprised if they tried doing the draft again...

No. Congressman Charles Rangel of New York introduced the Universal Service Act of 2006 to re-introduce the draft. Even though he's a senior member of the Democratic caucus in the House of Representatives, the bill will never pass.
The President doesn't want it. The Joint Chief of Staff don't want it. The ranking commanders of the unified and specific commands don't want it. The general officer who serves as a military advisor to the President and mentioned the possibility of a draft has probably earned an early retirement.

There will never be a draft, I refuse to work with people who don't want to do the job. Remember how badly people have been protesting the war in Iraq? Think of what would happen if the Draft came back... Anarchy. Chaos. Very angry citizens, and Canada's population would triple overnight.

The only person pushing for the draft is Charles Rangold a democrat congressman from NY. Virtually all military experts prefer the volunteer army since it produces better more dedicated soldiers. Although recent monthly recruiting goals have been missed the Army is still on schedule to meet its recruiting goals making the need for a draft highly unlikely.

no, the army or the president are not the ones talking about a draft, it was one man who has no power or say so in the matter but because he opened his big mouth now everyone is all up in arms about it
