The other day i went to start my truck and it wouldn't turn over. so i jumpstarted it. it started up but would'nt stay running unless i held my foot on the gas.so i replaced the alternator but i still have the same problem after the replacement. Can anyone tell me wats wrong?

Sounds like a gas-line problem. Check the fuel-injector/Carborator and everything to do with it, down to the air filter.

if the battery went all the way down on it the idle speed needs to re-set its self,if you get it running hold it open a little with the idle a little above normal,and the computer will re-set its self,then it should idle alright,drive it for a few minutes to make sure its ok,good luck on it.

idle speed motor needs to be reset. hold idle up to 1500 for about 15 seconds 2 or 3 times and it will reset.

idel air control solenoid could be the issue. have you tried to drive it? If so does it run normally until you let your foot off the gas?

How about the battery if it won't take a charge then won't run correct???

throttle body need to be cleaned.
