Did you sign paperwork? If so, raise hell! If not, then you're up chocolate creek without a popsicle.
Beurocracy has it's weak points, I genuinally believe you got lost in the shuffle, if I were you I'd try to work it to your advantage, this is one of the few times you got the recruiter where you want him
DON'T let him pull the old, "SF positions" opened up if you want it.
But I'm a "go with your gut" type of person, if you think he's playing you, keep on your toes and try to have somebody with you when you go in to the recruiters office

The giving it to someone was probably the truth... now you are in line to get the next open job, that may be true too... it just might not be a job you or anyone else wants. basically recruiters sugar coat everything... they are the worlds greatest salesman, especially since they are selling something that the wide eyed applicant probably knows little about... if you think he is lying... chances are he is lying about something... I don't know how they double booked a job, but maybe he called you before he actually locked it. But they next available job is not always the best available job... they will put you on a list called ready and waiting, and when something pops up on your list, which will most likely be an aptitude area you will get it.

Not really. The Air Force only has some many slots for various ranks at their bases. I would wait for the job that you want. I got my third choice while I was in Basic Training in 1974. My first two choices closed out because the needs of the Air Force changed not mine.

Maybe it's crap, maybe it was the truth, but either way you need to be very sure of exactly what you are getting before you sign on the dotted line. Remember, if it isn't in writing on an official document with a commanding Officer's signature, it's just an empty promise that may or may not get filled.

If your recruiter reserved your job then it shouldnt have been available to someone else unless there were more positions open besides yours!

Learn now all recruiters lie no matter what branch of the military they are in. Their numbers are down and they will do anything to get them up. They are just salesman, so buyer beware.

As long as you have not signed a contract then he can't really screw you over. Just don't sign until you have it in writing.

Don't you have a competitive exam or something that helps you get into the forces as an Officer?
