This person was of Royal lineage on his mother's side and she became pregnant through Divine means.
He performed many wonderous acts, beyond the ability of ordinary men.
Because of Envy, he suffered torture.
He was raised by his Father to Heaven where he took a place at his Divine Fathers side and has been worshipped historically....
Did you know this description fits Hercules?
-- His mother was a decendant of Perseus,
-- Zeus impregnated her,
-- Hercules performed 12 Labors that are still legendary,
-- He was burned by a poisonous and acidic mix of the blood of a Hydra and a Centaur.
-- He was lifted to Heaven through the actions of Zeus
-- AND he was worshipped as first a Hero and then, later as a God in Greece and Rome.....
And ALL of this (except for the worship as a God in Rome) pre-dates Christianity by at least 400 YEARS as there are representations of Hercules from the 5th century BCE

Agreed, but "there are none so blind as those who will not see." Unfortunately, when it comes to philosophy or religion, many people simply refuse to reason beyond what they've been taught. To live in fantasy after all can be most comforting. We humans seek to stay in our comfort zones, and thus our widespread addiction to drugs, conservative religion, overeating, entertainment, shopping, etc. It's the way of the world. to seek after security and whatever appears to be a sure thing. Few people realize that the whole point of the hero is to overcome and transcend our limits. On the other hand, I don't believe that its necessary to worship some sort of god or live up to an imposed set of rules. That said, Plato's cave allegory continues to hold true, as many live and die confusing shadow with reality. I hope not to do this, but like others am a work in progress,

Mary was most likely Levite, not "royal lineage," but priestly.
Luke 1:5 In the time of Herod king of Judea there was a priest named Zechariah, who belonged to the priestly division of Abijah; his wife Elizabeth was also a descendant of Aaron.
Luke 1:35 The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. 36 Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. 37 For no word from God will ever fail.”
The claim that Luke presents Mary's genealogy is baseless. The traditional "presentation" for the baby had not changed in centuries, "And let his name be called in Yisrael Yehoshua ben Yehosep." In this case there was no blood relation, but the de facto adoption created the LEGAL relationship to David to fulfill prophecy. Jesus was CALLED the son of Joseph and thus, by extension, the son of David.

And the reason is: there were prophecies about the coming Messiah.
Prophecies made so we could identify the coming one.
How interesting that some took these comments to write a fanciful story.
Isn't that plagirism?

Hercules wasn't without sin.He then didn't take all of our sin upon Him and give His life freely. He doesn't speak to me the way my Savior does and He doesn't love and forgive and He isn't the One coming in Glory! Call me Crazy if you will...it's fine with me...but right now...I'm gettin' ready to leave!
