Dear so and so,
Thank you so much for the crystal votive candle holder. It's beautiful and whenever I light candles in it I will think of you. I hope you enjoyed the wedding.
Sincerely,
So and so.

Thanks X for the crystal votive holder. We love the way it catches the light when the candles are lit in it. It fits perfectly on our mantle. I also wanted to thank you for taking the time to help us celebrate our wedding. That purple dress you wore was lovely. Where did you get it? (At the last sentance you should always try to insert something that shows you remember THEM at the party and not just their gifts. Previous is the basic formula for thank you's) Hope to see you again soon....
Love,
The New Mr. and Mrs. Jones
P.s. Why would you give me that cut crystal crap. It shall live in darkness forever along with the cut crystal punchbowl from Aunt Mildred. Too bad you engraved our names or it could go on Ebay.

How about Thank you for the candle holder?
Or Thanks a candle holder? Everything you write sounds funny? Why is that? I assume you're aware, that some times funny is good? Go ahead, write your funny sounding thank yous. One time when someone bought me dinner at a resturant, I created my own thank you card. The thank you message was "Thanks A Plate!".

keep it simple. 'dear whats-it-name, thank you so much for the crystal votive candle holder. it is very beautiful and will brighten my home lovely. thank you so much.' it doesn't have to be fancy. sometimes...keeping things simple does the job.

Be sure to thank the person for specifically for what they gave you. A generic, "thank you for the wedding gift" sounds like just that...generic. Also, mention how you might use the gift, or where you might place it in your home. ("We can't wait to use it for those romantic candlelit dinners at home," or "We have found the perfect place for it in the living room," or something to that effect.) Just be sincere, and you should do just fine.
