I do not have the HDTV box, and know that the channel Im watching is broadcasted in HD. Does anyone know any tricks to tell if im watching HD programming?

Well the only other way to get HD with your setup is from local TV channels, and your TV MUST HAVE an ATSC tuner....and the channel for HD signals would be ONLY the dash 1 or dot 1 channel....all others are SD signals.

With Cable or Satellite you only get SD signals.... UNLESS you have the HD box.

You MUST HAVE the HD box for HD signals and the Show must be HD and the station you're watching must be an HD station too....

If it a HD channel it will say, if your in the U.S, NBC HD or ESPNHD. Try pressing "info" or "display" on the remote to see if that shows you. You need a HD Tuner to get HD channels though.

There is only one way.
Press "info" or "display" or something similar on your TV's remote to see info about the channel you are watching, and should see if the src is 480i, 720p, or 1080i.
Only 720p or 1080i are HD.
