Just made the switch from Dish Network solely for sports packages but am coming across problems. For one, when switching from channel to channel in the guide, it will often show up as a black screen and I have to channel up and back down for the channel to come in. sometimes i'll get a message "searching for signal" for no reason at all. My wife is really upset and wants to switch back...please help me save my nfl sunday ticket!

Get the Direct TV tech out there NOW....

It shouldn't be doing any of those wierd things....and I think your Satellite dish is misaligned....

Have them tweak it and MAYBE replace the box with another one. It may just be alignment related, but the channel up/down fix should not happen at all....

This as happened to me a couple of times. If you have a DVR (not sure if this will work with the regular one)
This link will show the picture.

So if you have the little switch flippy thing on the left, you lift it up and underneath it there is an orange/yellow button. Press it. This will make the directv box reset. This should solve your problem. If the problem is with the signal you may have to call the directv people and get them to come and look at your dish.

Just sounds like a service call issue. This can generally happen when the signal is impaired. It can be anything from an improperly installed fitting to an obstruction in between the dish and the relay station signal, to a kinked cable. Don't give up hope yet.

We have the same problem from time to time. The easiest way to fix the problem is to reset the receiver. There is a small red button inside a door on the right side of the receiver...simply push it and the receiver will reset. If the problem persists contact Direct TV and let them know about it and they may need to send out a service technician to check the equipment. Good luck.

I also have Direct Tv and have had the same issues.
I found that if these problems keep occuring, it will improve if you remove the "key card" from the back of the receiver, re insert after a few seconds- when you power on the receiver will completly reload, should solve those issues for awhile.

Had a similar problem...first check to be sure your dish is properly adjusted....then do a hard reset of the system; unplug the receiver for 15 second, and then plug it back in.

Their customer service is usually pretty good, and they will try to help if you call their hotline.

NFL is important....don't give up the fight! Good luck!
