Anything with wheels thats runs well would be a good first car. But depending on you thats would be enough money to get a used about anything. Jeep, Toyota, Honda, just about anything. But if you choose an Asian made car chance are it will last longer so think about it.

There is no perfect used car,but my recommendation would a Ford Escort (nothing older than a 91).I bought one in 1991 and put over 200,000 miles on it before I sold it to my brother because I was moving to Spain. He put another 100,000 miles before he got rid of it,Be aware that you have to change the timing belt about every 60,000 miles though. That Escort was probably the best car I ever owned, and at my age (68) I have owned many many cars.

First of all! don't buy a ford the transmissions ford sucks, if you want a good car get you a Honda or Toyota four cylinders for mpg and four doors for commodity, a civic or corolla is a good start. the part are expensive but they worth it. make the right choice and drive safe.
