You may have gout. Have your blood tested for uric acid level. If the lab says its high, then you go to see a doctor for prescription.

Each foot has 26 bones and many, many muscles, ligaments, tendons, and nerves. The foot is the most complex musculoskeletal structure in the body!

Since you don't mention your age, health problems, medications, activity level, how long you've been hurting, what makes it worse, what makes it better, whether it began after a specific activity, what type of shoes you wear, how much walking you do..... it is impossible to help you with this problem on Yahoo Answers.

If you've been having stabbing pains for more than two weeks, you may benefit from an evaluation by a physician. Your physician will be asking all of the above questions, and more!

If this picture http://www.physioworks.com.au/images/plantar.fasciitis.gif describes where your stabbing pains are, you may have plantar fasciitis. This condition can cause stabbing pains.

Gee like always, it seems Dr. Frank is right again!

There are too many possible answers to that question. WIthout more information we can not even recommend the proper steps to find out.

Please provide more info, or better still, see your GP, be sure to take a list of all your drugs and previous diagnoses with you. Also be ready to give a history of the foot pain.
