"its the latest" ,"U don't like change"
the latest isn't the best or most wanted , and I like change , its just that I hate being forced to buy stuff that I don't want and work like they were BETA.
LOL , I writhed "Viste" , I meant Vista , but U got that

XP is still available just about everywhere. If that's what you want, insist upon it, don't let yourself get sold something you don't want just because it's the latest model they are pushing

How exacty were you "forced: to buy a computer and/or operating system you don't like/want.
If you needed new hardware you could just as easily have installed XP on it (XP is still available) or you could have installed Linux or even bought a Mac!
Nobody forced you to do anything ,if Vista isn't doing what you want it to do either take it back and get something else or try and live with it.
And next time do what I do,get involved in beta testing of new products and give feedback.that's what I did with Vista and that's why I still run XP and will do until Vista is a lot better than it is now-probably when the next service pack comes out.

Because Vista is the newest OS and most PC's now usually come with the "best" software. You could always get a Windows XP install disk and install XP... I guess but I don't know why you would cause if you ever decide to get Vista again, you'll need to spend at least $199.

Makes life easier for the average user when it is preinstalled. Also, it is the latest version and many users think they need the latest and best. Additionally, newer programs will be written for Vista and may not run on earlier versions.

Corporations working together,,, to make corporations "better" competitors. I personally don't hate Vista. I use it at home. At work we're strictly Server 2000, 2003 and XP, 2000 clients. I cringe at the thought of introducing Vista to our network although, I did join this laptop to it just to make sure it could be done. What's even scarier is the thought of server 2008! If that's the bad stepchild that Vista has turned out to be, Heads UP! Corporations,,,God d%#$ed corporations....

It's simply marketing... stores want to sell the latest and greatest of everything. Would it make sense for any of them to sell a PC with an old version of Windows?
There are on-line vendors selling "bare-bones" PCs with no OS installed... and if you look real hard, even Dell will sell their PCs with Linux... but if you want a PC with XP, then you have to look for a "refurbished" PC (Dell probably still sells a few of those yet).

They want you to have to buy new software and hardware. Just another way to get your money.
One of my computers has Vista and it's been a pain in the butt trying to get my existing peripheral devices and software.
