I concur with you, its a highly invalidating statement because it is basically telling you that you cannot trust your own mind .... it implies that you have to be told what to do, how to think and feel by some "higher authority". This is a dangerous way of thinking.

There is something beautiful buried very deep within the heart of man.
Man has a "Tiny Heart" within the physical heart.
The "Heart Within" is directed to the earth, and must be directed toward the Creator. The Inner Heart is a beautiful mystery that the Creator has placed in man, and is mans true wealth.
This inner heart is beyond what man can conceive of with his mortal mind.
Clean this "Inner Heart", and something absolutely amazing happens. Man is transformed into what is called, "A True Human Being".
Compassion for all lives surfaces. Another persons hunger becomes their own hunger. Another persons thirst becomes their own thirst.
This is what is called "Hearts Work"
Give it a try, it's free for all mankind!

Hi,
For starters, your heart is an organ that pumps blood into your body, so, trust me, the heart is never deceitful, only the mind can be deceitful. Given that you have an analyst, he/she should have made you aware of that fact. Psychiatrists treat the mind, not the heart. For heart treatment you need to see an internist or a cardiologist. The only thing that may "lead you astray", is your head, my friend...Not your heart.
I'm also curious to know what your connotation of the phrase "lead me astray" is. We are, each of us, human, (unless, of course there really are aliens from different planets out there), and have you never heard the phrase ? " To err is human, to forgive, divine".

Yeah, it's a powerful little verse, serving the purposes of the 'spritual leaders' perfectly. Since we can't trust even our own hearts, then we have to go ask someone else . . . whose heart, by the way, is equally deceitful, since that verse includes all of us! LOL What a book that bible is. It's full of crap like that!

You shouldn't listen to this kind of stuff? The Bible? Your therapist obviously doesn't know the Bible very well. Remember you have to take into consideration the entire context of that chapter. Its difficult to read one verse and make sense of it. So many verses are taken out of context because people do this. Read the whole chapter, see if that doesn't help you.

You can find anything you're looking for in the bible: want revenge? an eye for an eye. want to take the high road? turn the other cheek.
Stop looking for answers in ancient texts. Your therapist sounds like a very smart person. I'd go with what s/he says. You *can* learn to trust yourself, and you *can* learn to make good choices.

This is one of those questions. You're pointing out one the the strong points of the Bible, whether you intended to, or not.
I think Jeremiah's probably referring to 'heart' as it pertains to the workings of romance between humans [though I haven't pulled up the text from scripture].
I believe he's correct and insightful with the statement.

The heart is decietful if you think about it. For example say Two people are married and they love each other. Well one day someone else comes along and one of the two married people start to have feelings for this new person. In time the person begins to want a relationshipwith the new person, so they "listen" to their heart. Through listenign to their heart the person has a relationship with this new person and cheats on their partner, causing sin.

The heart is a muscle, It does not think or get emotional. Emotions are from different parts of your brain, nervous system and gland sets. Emotionally you are far more likely to be led by your nose than anything else.
