I hate the fact that its LAW that you have to have Insurance
and Registration.

and do they really need to charge such a high fee to put your name in a goddamn computer???

Some of us cant afford to insure our cars, wtf are we supposed to do? Oh right...we are fined and have our
license taken away, i mean that makes alot of sense,
fine a person who is already so poor they cant afford
car insurance...aghhhhggghhh!!!!!

Is it like this in all states?

Insurance isn't optional. If you drive you have to have it for tons of reason whether it is law or not, whether you think you can afford it or not, and whether you like it or not. Answer this.....you cause severe bodily injury or even death to someone then what are you going to do? Tell the family they can't take your home because you'll have no where to live, or tell a judge you can't go to jail b/c you've got kids? Too bad. I just hope I'm not the one you hit b/c if you do and I live I'm coming after you for everything you currently own now and in the future, every dime you make now and in the future. The flip side is this: YOU are injured in an accident and YOU are barred from recovering YOUR damages because you do not carry insurance. Sweet justice! Now who's ignorant?

If you cant afford to insure your cars, then you dont need the car. First off are you 16 and trying to buy a $60,000 car that the insurance costs $500+ a month? Try a older car, Or something like that. I am 28, my wife is 25, we have 2 cars, a 1999 civic EX, and a 2001 Volkswagon Jetta 1.8t Wolfsburg edition, We pay $105/ month for insurance through Progressive online. Thats VERY reasonable, considering the fines for not having insurance are quite higher.

Nobody said it was inexpensive to own and operate a car. I pay for insurance on 3 vehicles, plus a house, a boat and a motorcycle, so you're crying to the wrong person here. If you think insurance is expensive, see how expensive it gets if you're at fault in an accident without it.

And don't presume nobody else here has ever been in a situation where they have to decide between food and insurance. I know I have. I was in a similar position years ago. I worked two jobs to keep food on the table, then after I got in better financial shape, I went to college and got a degree at the age of 31, I now have a good job and a good future. And I can assure you, I didn't whine publicly about how hard things were for me and/or my family. I was too busy working to improve my life to sit and complain about it.

It is like that here in Virginia. The theory behind the insurance thing is if you can't afford insurance don't drive the car because if you cause an accident the other person who wasn't at fault is shafted. My lovely state makes you pay an uninsured motorist fee every year if you don't carry insurance so it is actually cheaper to carry it.

Car registration is necessary to maintain the system. It costs the state money to build roads, put up signage, run the DMV, etc. It's only fair that those who drive pay for it.

And driving around without insurance is one of the stupidest things you can ever do. It's better to get fined a few hundred dollars than cause an accident and have to sell your house to pay the settlement. Believe me, it does happen.

Yes, it's like that in all states. Feel free to not drive if you can't afford the responsibility of doing so. I'm sorry you feel it an inconvenience if someone wants you to take responsibility for your actions. Obviously you think someone else should pay your share.

yes it is. I live in dallas tx since 2003 if you get caught with out ins, which i did. besides a 260$ fine, you have to pay a "surgage fee tax" of 260$ a year for three years. and i dont care how much money you have, its one year at a time. or you can pay 35$ a month from may thru december. now thats a joke. to add insult to injury, if you miss on monthly payment, they suspend your drivers license. thats what happened to me. screw the poor working stiff .

I know this not the answer you want to hear. just say that you
hit someone car and you did not have insurance that person
will be very pissed off because when he fines out you don't
have any insurance.

Hmmm.....odd you are the one who openly admits to driving around without insurance because you can't 'afford' it, yet you have the nerve to call the answerers here ignorant.
