my friend decided to give up grains (including breads, cereal, oatmeal, tortillas, noodles, etc.) for 27 days. i'm really worried about her, and she said that she would start eating them again if i found her information on what could happen if she doesn't eat them. she is an active girl, and is on a tennis team. anyone got any information? THANKS!

Some of the grains won't hurt her to eliminate. However whole grains are good for her...

But for a short period it won't hurt her......

grains are the most important part of a persons diet. it is extremely bad for a girl (who i am assuming is in high school) to give them up for 27 days. grains are the leading source of energy that you can provide for your body. they contain something called a photochemical which reduces risk of heart disease and various cancers. they are packed with b vitamins which help the nerve development, dietary fiber which reduces blood cholesterol level, folate which helps the body form red blood cells, and iron that is used to carry oxygen in the blood. carbs and grains play an important role in the construction and maintenance of the body's tissues, organs and cells (nerve cells). nutrition experts know that carbohydrates and grains are an essential macro nutrient that provide fuel for the brain and muscles and contains the fiber needed for proper gut function. you should be worried about your friend..tell her to get eating grains and carbs quickly! if you have any more questions..feel free to ask! tell her that roughly 60% of her daily caloric intake NEEDS to be carbs..especially for an active girl!

grains are an excellent source of fiber and good fats! i dont recomend you doing that. but if you do (cuzoof carbs) give up flour and sugar too. (which is what you should be giving up instead)
and also if you do , take omega 3 pills
