I went to Radio Shack and got some plastic tubes that my computer and tv wires go into. The kittens can't get to the wires through them.

You can use paper towel tubing to cover the wires, this is very inexpensive, you can also put cayenne pepper on the wires, hot sauce, this is what my vet recomended, I had to wet my hands with the hot sauce and slick down every wire in the house. I don't know if my cat ever had a taste, but she no longer chews on wires.

The fastest, most reliable way I know of is to go to a pet supplies store and get a bottle of Bitter Apple. It tastes awful (like biting into a banana skin) and cats won't chew on anything you wipe this on.

Put some on a rag and wipe the wires down. You can test with your tongue to see if you have enough on--it won't hurt you it just tastes bad.

there are sprays and lotions and potions you can put on the wires, but with a really persistent and curious cat you might need to keep re-applying the sprays and lotions repeatedly.... I got tired of having to do that all the time because my incerdibly tenacious little guy will just keep trying to get to the wires as long as they are hanging out -- so I taped them down,. to the floor , the backs of entertainment systems, to desk legs, to the wall, where ever they were exposed -- now they are not -- and Spencer has found other things to occupy his time and energy -- shoe laces....
