I am having trouble with some downloaded PDF's that come from gaming sites. They say to download for info, but I can't open some of them.

I have the latest acrobat/adobe, also open office, micro soft word, the problem is some don't open, in any of this. What is a converter?

Be careful opening those PDF files, they can be viruses as u said u have acrobat reader, word and above all you have open office which is an open source and can open all the documents which contains text file but for that you should have knowledge about which file to open in which format, you will have to study open office document for that.

There is a free online converter at www.media-convert.com. Works well, however, some files cannot be converted if they have been purposely encrypted. Found that out yesterday when I watched for 20 minutes while a large file was "successfully converted" -- only to find a blank page when I opened it. There was a little note in the corner of the PDF file that the file could not be copied, edited, or converted because it had been encrypted -- and they meant it!

The problem may be in your PDF software. You might need to download another a more recent free copy.

The best PDF reader is Adobe Reader, which you can find it here : http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
If you wish to creat PDF files, use Adobe Acrobat.

You can try Foxit. It isn't as resource intensive as Adober Reader.
