When you stop drinking soda you become less bloated. Also drink a lot of water and walk more. This will help in your weight reduction. You will probably loose a few pounds right away then reach a plateau, this means that you won't loose anymore weight but just not drinking soda.
When this happens I suggest that you intensify your workouts and also cut back on other bad foods that are heavy in fats, then drink more water. Then your weight loss will continue.
Hope this helps.

I can relate from personal experience. I have stopped drinking sodas a month ago. Basically drinking half my body weight in oz. of water and OJ in the morning. I also stopped drinking beer/alcohol as well. In this months time, I watch what I eat, do not eat fast foods or junk, and I have managed to lose 27 pounds. But to be honest, I also walk 4 miles twice a day and after I am done walking I exercise for about 20 minutes. I am basically trying not to look 40 and it's working and I feel so good about it........

RE:
Benefits from not drinking soda?
I have decided to stop drinking soda in order to help lose more weight.
Does anyone here have a success story about stopping drinking soda, any positive effects, or know anyone that does?
Thanks.

Yes, I know of two individuals who dropped more than 15 lbs by simply avoiding carbonated drinks.
In addition, I think that there are short term and long term benefits to minimizing intake of carbonated drinks.
1) the contain caffeine which should be avoided
2) they contain sugars of the worst types that should be avoided.
3) the carbonation is a form of acid that could damage teeth and bones.
Anyone 50 years of age and younger will be the first generations of people that were heavy consumers of carbonated beverages. We still haven't seen what excessive consumption will do to these individuals in their vulnerable years. Vulnerable to bone density loss due to the carbonation in beverages. This could make an already dngerous situation even more dangerous. Elderly people (especially women) frequently break bones because of depleted bone density. They're often bedridden because these fractures don't heal quickly. Sometimes, the inactivity can lead to bed sores that can become infected.
You would be making a wise choice to minimize or eliminate carbonated beverages from your diet.

For one thing, you're not taking in so much sugar (most sodas have atleast 20 to 40 grams of sugar per can). Second, soda tends to dehydrate you (caffeine & sugar). Third, it takes more soda to quench your thirst than water.
As far as experience, I try to limit myself in drinking sodas. I don't need to lose weight, but feel a little bit better when I chose water or juice. It's healthier, ya know? ;)

my friends used to drink a lot of soda and he didnt excersize much, but then a couple of his friends encouraged him to stop drinking so much soda, because he drank like 4 cans a day. drinking soda increases your risk of diabetes, and also it can stunt a growing child's growth.
if you quit soda, im sure youll see good results soon!!
