Aggravated Assualt is never as Misdeanor in any state of the USA. Who you trying to fool? Aggravated Assualt is a felony and you cannot enter Cananda with a felony unless you have a visa from their goverment which permits you.

But call the passport people. I know all you need right now is your birth certificate and photo ID to cruise.

Felons travel all the time. Look a Martha, Paris, Russell Crow, Naomi etc.

If you are an American you do not need a visa to visit Canada. You do need a passport to re-enter the US. There is also a preapproved card you can apply for but I forget the name of it...
