We have a dog that comes to our clinic who is 17 years 6 months old. Oldest I know!!!
Good quality food, moderate daily exercise (mind and body), annual vet exams, dental cleanings, and a loving family all attribute to the longevity of a dog.
Typically, small breeds will live longer than large breeds.... according to AHAA, the average life expenctancy of a dog is anywhere from 9-13.

Well, that all depends on if your dog is healthy or not. It depends on what kind of dog brand you are using if your dog is healthy... etc.... My friends dog has been eating eukanbuna dog food and canidae dog food, then lived to be 18 yrs. old. The average is usually 10-15 yrs. though. Good luck! Oh ya! make sure your dog is spayed or nueterd. That may help a lot!

I had a cockapoo that lived to be 23 years old.
She did got to the vets and had all her shots but as faar ad food was fed purina dog chow which so many think is so bad for dogs and she had table scraps. She first belonged to a neighbor who barely fed her and she would come to our house and we would give her food and water and tehn they finally said we could keep her .
I was good friends withthe daugher and she got teh pup wehn seh was 1 year old and the dog died shortly after she turned 24.

The oldest recorded dog lived to be 29. I think he was some sort of a herding dog.
Poodles and chihuahuas both live about 20 years or so.

the oldest ever recorded lived to be 29 years, 5 months.
However, it also depends on the dog's size. Small dogs can easily go to 20, but i've had 3 big dogs(boxer, doberman, german shepherd) and the oldest one lived to be nine.
Life expectancy also depends on stuff like daily exercise and diet.

well,
dogs usually only make it to 10-15
but they have been known to live 16-20 and over
it all depends on the care given.
dont feed it a lot of human food
and never feed them grapes, ice cream , chocolate, and other sweets.
dont spray poisons like insect sprays around them
and the best thing u can do is
give them ur love
my dog sassy german shepherd/ chow chow mix is 9 and still kickin
shes my baby

17 years is most commonly the oldest age. In dogs years, 17 years is more than 60 years of human years.
Hope this helps,

i trimmed the toenails on a dog that was 20 years old once. i didnt know if i really believe the people, but i also thought it was funny that i was actually kind of scared to do it because it was so old and tried to bite me even though it had no teeth.
