some people are really immature at a young age and dont accept others, but when they start to mature, its a another story. so basically, people around you matured and saw you in a different light than "that black girl" and as a normal girl

While the most simple explanation may be just what you already concluded( and I am not ruling out racial bias) ,I want to look at other factors before saying so.You described yourself as being attractive yet said it was within your race. How did you arrive at that particular conclusion? Is it possible that this is all in your mind.Have you dated a guy who was not African American; If not ,would you want to.The fact that you had no problem dating at your Alma Mater, while it may seem to validate your position, may have been been a case of "self-fulfilling "prophesy.I also would have liked to know what you meant when you wrote"no matter how hard I tried the boys just didn't give me the time of day".Maybe you were sending out the wrong signals or trying too hard .I suggest that you give some thought to all the issues I have raised. If you can not arrive at a logical explanation for the events that occurred, then you may be right that it was a situation based on racial bias. But I hope I am wrong.

high school is the age of image, status, and self-consciousness. maybe a guy would get made fun of for dating a girl out of their race. maybe he didn't want to stick out.
did you grow up in a prejudiced area? maybe they weren't allowed to date black or felt that it was wrong.
maybe the guys you wanted to date were mostly attracted to girls of their own race.

it's not because of your race. it has to do with immaturity. when guys are younger, they tend to look for girls that look like them. in other words, they like girls of their own race. as they get older, however, they learn that race is virtually inconsequential in a relationship. that's why you saw more success. that being said, there will always be some apprehension about dating outside of one's race, because it's something of a social taboo, regardless of whether or not it ought to be.
