Last night my hubby was really gettin on my nerves cos he
was sleeping on his side and his feet kept scratching the
bedsheets. The constant noise of his toenails was really getting on my nerves. So I got up, walked around to his side of the bed to get some socks (I have done this before and just put them on the end of his feet - anything to stop him!!) As I
bent down I felt him behind me and his arms were on my shoulders and pulling me back. As I turned I saw my husband
asleep in bed. I reeled with fright, then I was at the side of him,
lying down as if I had been asleep. It has scared me to death.
So, would this be me just dropping off to sleep or what? Do you think its because I was tired and anxious. I really thought
I was awake. HELP. Minxy.

MANDALADADREAME - I suppose I was assuming it was my husband behind me because it was so real. When I saw him lying in the bed I knew it wasn't him behind me. This is was scared me. Hope this makes more sense.

All dreams can seem real, but the type you describe can be very scary, and UN-nerving, even causing anxiety.

People have often told me you do not remember dreams, but I do not believe this, as if we do not remember, how come we know we dream ?

If you have a lot on your mind, or some problems that need sorting, these can play on your mind, and cause dreams of a most unusual nature.

First of all let me reassure you, you are not alone with this type of dream.

To give you a personnel example, I woke up one morning, had breakfast, and set out to work as normal. While driving to work, I was involved in a collision with another car. I woke up again, and found myself in bed, just a dream. So I got up, made sure I was well awake, had shower, ate breakfast, and really set off for work. No problems this time, got to work in one piece, but it was my day off, and, yes, you guessed, I woke up again !

Dreams are very real, very scary, and totally unexplainable and unpredictable, although scientists may disagree.

Please take care, try not to worry, and remember, a dream can not physically hurt you, although at the time it seems to do so.

Hope this helps you, and well done for bringing this kind of problem to open discussion on this site.

I think there is more than one thing going on in that event.
From the way you describe being immediately lying down again, I'm sure that it was an OBE. But if you felt HIM behind you (for the sake of argument, let's just leave it at it being him for sure) then he may also have been having an OBE. It's definitely possible, but usually those are planned by those who are adept at it... they plan to meet up out of body...
I wish you'd seen the person who was behind you, is all. That would have told a lot more about what was going on.
OBEs do occur more frequently when you are overtired or anxious, unless you have been practising.

OBEs are more common in the *alpha state, esp. for lengths of time in it. One can teach themselves to do that by disturbing the sleep every 1/2 -1 minute or so. (Hovering on the sleep threshold.) Such as what you have experienced. It's also called lucid dreaming

*Between wakefulness and sleep.

This website helps you to achieve that if you want to try again anytime soon;)

It could have been either way. Usually out of body experiences start by hovering over the bed or some place.

Wow that's scary but I think maybe you were intending to put his socks on but fell asleep before you did and dreamt about it instead

sounds like you might have had a touch of sleep paralysis. Frightening, but not dangerous

Just try and put it out of your mind, although it must have frightened you at the time.
