I have a tooth that has had a root canal and a cap. I have an infection in that tooth between the bottem of the tooth, not in the roots, and the bone. My dentist said the infection was not in the tooth or in the gum but in a pocket between the base of the tooth and the bone. I have had two rounds of antibotics and the dentest said that I had already started bone loss in this pocket.
I would like to keep the tooth, and I understand that I can not take antibotics indefinatly.
What can I do to get rid of this infection besides pull the tooth?
I gargle with hot salt water every day, several times a day. I brush at least twice a day. I floss every day. I use an antiseptic mouth wash several times a day.
My dentist won't cut the gum to relieve the abcess because he thinks that it would be better to pull the tooth.
Back to my question. What can I do to heal the infection that does not involve antibotics and pulling the tooth?

Nothing you have to get the tooth pulled. It's over. Man, you must be in a lot of pain. I had what you have years ago. An infection can also kill you.

Immediate consultation and medication from the dentist should be your first resort before you apply anything to it. You can assure safe treatment if the dentist will take charge. You do not know what those antibiotics would bring you from that condition, it will perhaps worsen the infection. Seek first the dentist prescription. However, for home alternatives, you may use OraMD.
