I got a HORRIBLE sunburn this weekend (my 1st one ever). I've been putting on aloe gel, ice packs, and taking tylenol. I even went to my Dr. who told me to just keep on doing what I'm doing. My face has started to peel, but my shoulders are KILLING ME. Does anyone have any tips? And how long is this going to last? =o(

Well when you first get back from the exposure, IE the beach or pool, you should take a warm shower which will open up all your pores and let the heat escape, which will in turn lessen the chances of peeling. You have been doing everything right, aloe gel helps a lot, but there is nothing you can do. Your skin is already dead if you are already peeling, and it will not miraculously revive, so there is nothing you can do to stop if from peeling. Just wait it out and hopefully it will be done within a week and a half.

Old remedy for sunburn...
Soak a bath towel in equal parts water and milk. The water will cool the burn and the milk will remove the sting of the burn. Rotate the towel every 5 minutes to keep it cool .This does GREAT, have used it for years to help myself ( I am very fair skinned and burn easily) Good luck!!!
