My friend is a photographer and is trying this out. Check out the site and and let me know what you think. There are some really neat pics of brides after their honeymoon who don't feel the need to store the dress. Some even get it cleaned and it is fine.

Totally doing it.

What am I gonna do with the dress? Let it molder in the closet for a few years "saving it for my daughter" until I realize that my daughter isn't going to wear it (name 4 people who have worn their mother's dress...I thought so) then toss it out because it's so out of style nobody wants it.

I'll trash it. I'll dry clean it. Then it's going up for sale or to Brides for Breastcancer where it can do some good.

For people who comment on how "wasteful" this is they should know that how far you "trash" the dress is up to the bride and in most cases the dress is perfectly fine after a good cleaning. All "trash" means is taking pics you couldn't on wedding day because the dress would have gotten dirty like on the beach, in the water, downtown, whatever. Cutting and setting on fire are rare. Cool but rare.

You stick it in your closet probably to never be seen again....I make some beautiful art that will last my lifetime and beyond. Who's wasteful now?

My daughter(5) and i are both trashing our dresses 2 weeks after my wedding, My parents own a farm and we are going to ride the horses, and go 4-wheeling, I bought and paid for both dresses with my money, so i feel like i might as well wear it again.

Also after i trash the dresses we are dying them a different color so we can wear them to the renn fest

I think that it really depends on what kind of photography your into! Personally, I think it is a really cool way to get neat pictures. I mean its not like your going to wear the same dress AGAIN! If you do get married again you at least get a different dress

When I first read your question, my heart sunk. My dress was a family heirloom and it was stolen when a friends house was burglurized, but when I went to the web site www.trashthedress.com, I saw only amazing photos. The dresses aren't really being "trashed". I love the one in the waterfall, and the silouette one is beautiful.

It should be called "dirty your dress.com"

I love it, what a great idea for unique photos!

Doesn't look like they're trashing the dress to me. She's just wearing it in random places around town. I jumped in the pool after the wedding in mine.

All those photos are absolutely beautiful!
I would probably just buy a cheap white dress for the photos though and give a nice dress away or sell it.

I think its a fun idea. I am trashing mine and after will get it dry cleaned and donate it to Brides against Breast cancer. The bottom is ripped so hopfully they can repair it, and if not I will make a pillow...lol

Some of the pictures are beautiful, but personally for me it would be a huge disrespect to do that, my mother paid for my wedding dress as her gift to me, she works hard for her money and it was very generous of her to pay for it for me, how gutted would she be if she saw me ruining the dress she worked hard to pay for. Perhaps if I had bought my own dress I would consider it, but then again I can wear mine again so I don't really want to trash it.

Totally awesome. I would love to get down and dirty in my wedding dress. It would be great fun! Maybe my husband and I could do that for our third anniversary when our daughter is two. We could paint canvas together or something!
