I used to be one. We would read scriptures and talk about God, Jesus Christ, the Plan of Salvation, Joseph Smith, the Book of Mormon, the Bible, resurrection, judgement, chastity, tithing, keeping the Sabbath day holy, etc. It was great.

Mormon missionaries, usually young men 19-23, are not theologians in any sense, but more reasonably described as religious salesmen. They cannot answer any deep philosophical questions, reveal much about the temple, or any of the deep doctrinal or controversial issues of the church. You will get their 'testimony', but that's really all they have going for them.
You can expect to be directed to answer rhetorical questions with a series of "Yes's" (sort of like "Do you want to get great gas mileage?-type questions) that makes it appear that the only logical choice is becoming baptized. There is not much room for debate or discussion, and if you are going to make a life-changing decision, two salesmen should not be the ones to do it for you.

Don't expect to hear the truth about their founder, Joseph Smith. Don't expect to hear about what they do in their temples. Don't expect to hear how they will have dead Aunt Sally baptized and married. Don't expect to hear any doctrine. Don't expect to hear what they really require people to do to be "right with God". It what they don't tell you that is the problem.

I wouldn't invite, but I would expect an apology.
Something like: "Sorry we assumed your inherent stupidity and tried to dupe and dope you all those years on our religion. By the way, where has our dogma gone wrong? would you be willing to head up a commitee to help us abolish our B.S. religion?"

They always claim they know their "church" is the one true church because of their "burning in the bosom."
They haven't read God's Word to see that Satan can appear as a "prince of light to deceive." Pretty tragic.

"Milk before meat", meaning they will not tell you about the more controversial aspects of the religion even if you ask. They reveal those gradually after you are already buying the less wacky stuff.

All I ever get from them is a testimony. Telling me what they believe could strengthen them but it does little to convince me that their message is from God.. Jim
