You're forgetting that golf is now a business. Do you think the Presidents Cup was created to rally national spirit? If you do you've been duped. These things are put together for one reason Nobs, MONEY my friend, MONEY. Mike Weir nearly achieved sainthood when he won The Masters. So, therefore, because the PC is being held in Canada and Mike Weir is a "bigger" Canadian golf-name than Stephen Ames, more tickets will be sold and therefore more MONEY will be made. Any new golf tournament on the PGA Tour is staged to make MONEY. If it doesn't make MONEY or offer a purse big enough to interest the PGA Tour it is dropped from the PGA Tour schedule. If the older, established tournaments don't have big enough purses they are also dropped. The BC OPEN PGA Tournament was held very near my home for 34 years. It was an un-sponsored tournament the entire 34 years. You may not understand what that means but try staging a $3 Million PGA Tour event with no major sponsor. That's what the BC OPEN did for the entire time but the PGA Tour said that the purse needed to be bigger to hold it's spot in the tour schedule. $3 million dollars and they wanted more. It's all about MONEY Nobs, nothing but MONEY. If Stephen Ames had won the PGA you can bet your @ss he would have selected instead of Mike Meir.

I am going to keep this simple for you. Mike Weir has won more tournaments, and majors, then Ames. Ames has only been playing well the last year, maybe two years. He is no where near as experienced or as quality of a player as Weir. Weir is streaky, but Ames is either near the lead, or misses the cut. Weir deserved it, and he will do well in those kind of settings. Also, he doesn't suck, hes a PGA Tour pro. Hes better than you and me, and thats enough said.

It's golf! Who cares about that sport (if it's even a sport...then again apparently wrestling and bowling are sports)? Eevn if you love golf as a Cdn, who cares? This whole "we must support Cdns" is dumb. Support a player in an individual sport if you like that player. Don't get hung up on nationality.

It's why of all golfers I like Ernie Els or Sergio Garcia. It has nothing to do with fluke of birth.

Both Ames and Weir are typical boring Cdns. They had their personalities removed at birth. It's why golf is such bad TV.

Mike Weir doesn't belong on that team and he knows it. He was a sentimental pick. Pres. and Ryder Cups are lame, anyway.

after getting whipped 9&8 in match play against Tiget last year, not sure if you want Stephen Ames in a match play format.

It doesn't really matter. The US will lose anyway.
