....because he had been caught having 'sexual relationships' with girls, would you thank God that he wasn't homosexual/gay?

This so called daft question is one that I lived through in real life.
The hysteria against gays is now so great that that for many extreme people the discovery would come as a great relief and the expulsion would be secondary.
I am not Christian and I have no problem with my gay friends.

Because of work commitments (travelling abroad for long periods) boarding school was the only option.

No. I wouldn't suspect him of being gay in the first place, so I wouldn't be relieved to find out he wasn't.
I would then be concerned about the possibility of him catching a disease or getting her pregnant. After those concerns were addressed, he would be put to work to repay the cost of his education that he wasted.

personally i would say the following. well done for getting yourself kicked out of school for doing something that is very very fun, i couldn't be more proud, your a chip of the old block. his mother would say something like, " how could you take advantage of those poor girls, now they are all going to end up pregnant (she doesn't know he knows about condoms ), your educations is going to be ruined, we will never get you into another Christian school now, you will have to go to a public school etc etc etc " oh and no i would not thank god, i couldn't care less if my son is gay or my daughter a lesbian, what ever they prefer.

The question is ridiculous. Both situations are immoral acts which are condemned in the Bible. Physical correction and extra prayer and Biblical instruction would definitely be in order. Besides, why send my kid away to boarding school in the first place?

I do not care whether he is gay or straight. I would simply want to get his education back on track as soon as possible, and also be sure that he is fully educated in sexual issues, now that he's become active.

When my son got caught getting a BJ in the girls locker room at school I was not happy with him for being heterosexual.
I did not thank God.

No, but I would be mad at him. Of course, sex before marriage is wrong and he should know better. As for whether or not I would be glad that he wasn't gay? I would have to say that, yes, I would be glad.....but if he was....I would pray for him. It is not my right to judge anyone. It doesn't matter if they are friend, family or someone I don't know. I have had friends who are gay, and that is between them and God.

I'd be more upset about the money. Also, I would never have a kid go to a boarding school. To trust others to raise your most valuable treasure -your kid.
I wouldn't blame the kid. Children need to be held, reassured, we all need some physical affection.

No. I'd be annoyed that he was expelled for any reason. I love my son whatever his sexual orientation. My son would thank goodness that he does not have a bigot for a parent.

No, that doesn't make any since. If you catch your son lying you don't thank God he wasn't stealing. Both are broken commandments and sins.
