It is the tendency to attribute everything that happens to a cause that suits your theory. For example, the public schools went down hill rapidly after prayer and Bible reading were taken away, but it was also after the teachers' union took over. Either of these might or might not be a cause, or there might be a different cause, or many causes working together.

First, God is never binded nor limited by your scientific truths. Can you scientifically described Peace or justice as examples? LOL Yes, Science can never explain something that is why there are theories LOL Science is filled with fallacies, that information change from time to time God exists even though there is no Bible, Love exist even though there are no Books about love, you do not need a book to determine the existence of something. Your Lowgic is quite unusual here, The Bible is a guide to enlighten man in living a life that is Godly. Many people believe because they have experience God in their life, His Love and kindness. As we say experience is the best teacher You only have knowledge of beautiful words but lack the depth when it comes to reality of Life.

Valid point. This is why I (a Christian) would not use this argument ("things have gotten worse since we took God out of the schools"). On its own it is just a post hoc argument.

Now, if we could only teach you atheists on Yahoo Answers to stop using the straw man, ad hominem, circular argument, and begging the question fallacies!!!

They don't need valid/sound logical arguments. They have faith! As long as you have faith that prayer in schools is a good thing, you don't need to worry if the argument supporting your belief is invalid.
