(the god of) gravity is ubiquitous on the earth (but a little light in his loafers up there) so offerings cannot be airmailed. (the god of) gravity well understands the seriousness of his duties (i daresay the gravity of the situation were he to abandon his sheep) and is completed and actualized by performing them well.
i would therefore agree with you.
