It was a straight up Christian, he wanted me to come to a concert at his church where he was "Just preachin' the good word." He told me he was just trying to save my soul. The church is called "Potter's House" which every time I drove by before I thought it was something more magical :(

Hey that's something I haven't thought of. You gave me an idea. I'm going to print off a bunch of flyers for "The God Delusion" by Richard Hawkins.

That is funny if you actually give that to them. Don't even bother engaging them. They believe spiritually and it gives them hope. If they're knocking on your door they are probably a lot more passionate about Christ than you are against him. By the way, isn't it possible that evolution can work hand in hand with creation? You can't take the Bible literally, but there are some decent stories and if you follow the teachings you can be a better and moral person. I believe there is something of a higher power than me, but I also believe in evolution. Couldn't we have been part of God's plan from the start? I would pay money to see you handing out some Darwin books to the Bible bangers though, hilarious!

I don't know if you are talking about JWs or Mormons. Most people may not be aware, but JWs usually have an extensive library of secular and non secular material. That is why they may have refused your literature. Darwin's Origin of the Species is taught in school also, so it is common knowledge.

Ahh the Jehova's and the Mormons strike again, I don't believe in either of their beliefs, I usually just tell them I'm already in a church and invite them for a bible study they usually make an excuse and leave. A coworker of mine once asked them in an idol threat if they wanted to join him and his wife for some group action and they were never to be seen again.

I would say, "I'll take yours if you take mine." Do they still ask for money when they 'give' them to you? I'm a Christian, but I don't want them peddling their religion at my house. Usually I'm in the middle of something, and don't want to stand and talk! I feel sorry for those that HAVE to do that. You can tell some act embarrassed about it.

I'll take anything you're willing to give me...

I was a missionary in Brasil a decade ago...and I went to several masses of different religions as well as received material from other faiths. it was intriguing but that is where it ended...I wanted people to know that I was not above going to their chapel/cathedral and it actually helped me show more love and charity to them because I had the empathy and compassion that most missionaries did not...I was willing to learn from their perspective and truly listen to what they have to say instead of pushing my own faith on them. The Holy Spirit taught and converted those who investigated my faith through me...all I was ..was an instrument in his hands...I didn't convert any souls in Brasil at all...the people were converted by the Spirit and bottom line: 35 of them were baptized.

I assume you're talking about the Jehovah's Witnesses. If you aren't interested on what they have to say, just politely tell them that and they will leave you alone. It's very rude of you to try to force something on them that you know they don't believe. (Before you say that's what they were doing to you, keep in mind that they have no idea what your beliefs are, so they have no way of knowing if it will go against them or not. You, on the other hand, are consciously trying to offend them by going against their beliefs.)

because they are a cult and cults are brought up to believe that theirs are the only belief that is true and not to listen to what others have to say.if they would listen then they could argue with you on your belief in what you believe in. they don't know how to do that.there is only one GOD and he created the world. that is that. they are discovering more and more that the evolutionists are further wrong then first believed.there was something in the paper the other day where the monkey man and the first human lived side by side with each other but didn't socialize with each other.how about that?

Double standards...Everyone has there own religious views so when someone comes knocking I protest by not opening the door which in turn saves me from trying to shove my views on them just like they are doing to me

You give away free copies of "On the Origin of Species"? That must get pricey for you.

I'd take one just to be polite.
