NO we must confess to priests because Jesus said to the apostles "whose sins you forgive are forgiven. whose sins you retain are retained." since the sucessors of the apostles are priests, the priests are the only one you can confess to.

The Bible says to confess your sins and repent to God not a priest.

.Yes, we can confess to one another and we are suppose to. However, we do not have to go through a priest to confess our sins to God. We are to confess to God, the person wronged and ask for their forgiveness.

...the role of the Roman Catholic priest DOES NOT follow Scripture and the Word of God... (the "title" Father, belongs only to God...read the Scripture references below) The Church of Rome has forced it's followers to participate in "religious gymnastics" such as but not limited to "going into a darken-booth" to confess to a "man" their sin...and the "man" give you "whatever" to absolve your sin... that's as close to "Balsphmacy" as I'd want to stay away from...(see the Scripture references)... Christ is the only mederator between God and man (again, read the Scriptures...not the dogma's of Rome)... fumbeling with "beeds", lighting candles, wayving smoke around accomplishes nothing... it's all "eye-candy"...(read the Scriptures)... The Church of Rome will and has attempt to justify itself in order to hold it's followers in "religious" bondage... Who the Son sets free, is free indeed... God does not want your sacrifices (Jesus paid the price in full)... God wants your heart thru Faith.

I was born and raised Catholic but I believe that the God I believe in hears me when I talk to him and I don't need to go to a Preist to confess my sins because I can talk directly to God myself.

you know the priest work for the devil... evil needs religions to survive... we evolve with nature, and we are evolving into a kinder species of animal... evil wants to hold onto power... so why would we want to share anything about ourselves with evil...

well im pretty sure the bible doesnt say that humans can cleanse other humans of sins...

what do they say when they go in? "Forgive me father for i have sinned"

who is the "father" they are referring to? not god, but their priest.

interesting how they are asking their priest to forgive their sins...

I'm not into admitting my faults to an old zealot. I don't care what the Bible says on the matter anyway.

I take care of my own problems. I don't rely on any magic fairy in the sky to solve them for me.
