Someone told me a preacher converted him in jail and now he is a devout Christian.

Yes. While in jail Berkowitz became a born again Christian and said that his obsession with the occult and pornography played a major role in these murders. He sent a letter to New York governor George Pataki asking that his parole hearing be canceled, stating, "I can give you no good reason why I should even be considered." In June of 2004, he was denied in his second parole hearing after he stated that he did not want one. The board saw that he had a good record in the prison programs, but decided that the brutality of his crimes called for him to stay imprisoned. In July of 2006, the board once again denied parole on similar grounds, with Berkowitz not in attendance at the hearing. He is very involved in prison ministry and regularly counsels troubled inmates.

Yes. Berkowitz became a born-again Christian, and is involved in prison ministry. I don't know if he's a licensed reverend, but he's involved in ministry with other inmates. Here's a webpage for his "Forgiven For Life" ministry:

Yes.You have to remember that a lot of death row inmates and lifers get religion on the inside.I'm not sure how many of those are for real.

that's how the devil reclaims his own.... do you think if the god of the christians was good he's allow sects like the KKK... any kindness in the church is the devil loosing to the "powers" of "good" but he keeps reaping in the evil and the foolish... he needs the numbers just to keep fighting..

It would be good if he really was; people, it is possible for God to forgive crimes like his. That's the whole point of why Jesus' came and died for us.
