There are a number of wars in the Middle East right now that we (the Allies) are involved in. Iraq, Afghanistan, there are more.
We supply weapons to some, we are in active combat with others. You all know this anyway.
When on the subject of these wars, though, I have noticed that our 'leaders' have a tendency of mentioning the Christian God in their speeches.
I hope someone can offer actual quotes below when they answer, to give a better understanding.
Would that not be a case of saying that God endorses our side, and that it is done in His name?
So why do we (the West) constantly deny a war on Islam, when it's obviously Christians against SOMEONE?
Please note: No non-Christian I know supports this war. Come to think of it, there's very few Christians I know who do either.
We all support the troops though. They are the innocent ones in all of this.

Does anyone think it's perhaps best if we stuck to political stuff, and not mentioned God in support of war? It just seems to me like Bush & co are getting a bit fanatical in their own beliefs, which could cause even more friction with Muslims.

Rick V, you may have been joking or sarcastic, but it don't matter. You encapsulate my point totally.
3 seemingly innocent words, that actually, when you think of it, alienate a fair percentage of Americans, never mind everyone else.
He's a president of a country, not a religion.
If I was American, and someone said that to me, it would mean nothing to me. Just empty words.
Can he not think of anything political to say, or does it HAVE to be religious?

Mentioning god when it comes to wars is an huge hypocrisy. A real believer would never kill - especially in the name of god!
You are right, the troops are the inocent ones in a game of power played by presidents ... it would be great if they would let god out of this, though why would they? isnt the church the best manipulation weapon?

First off, I'm a non-Christian and I'm not against the war!
Secondly, we elect Christian Presidents in this country most, if not all, of the time. Anyone who practices a religion and then says it won't effect how they make decisions in government is a liar. (Our last 4 or 5 Presidents were close friends of Billy Graham, the televangelist.)
Thirdly, MOST wars are fought, or begin, due to someone's religious beliefs. Organized RELIGION IS THE PROBLEM, not he solution!!!
Pick up a history book. OR TWO!

Oh, but it is a war against Islam.
The Western Media has caused the west to believe in their point of view, and only giving one side of the story blinds the people viewing: that is almost everybody. It has made its "victims" extremely ignorant, and I am truly proud of those who see through its schemes. The Media has forced its viewers to believe that Islam is a violent, bloody, intolerant religion, but in reality this is actually the opposite. If people would stop accepting their television sets as their teachers, more people would know the actual truth about Islam. The Media reports misleading stories, gross exaggerations, inaccurate information, and false statements about Islam and Muslims to undermine the religion, and unfortunately, this propaganda is a success--many, MANY Americans believe everything they hear on the news or read in the newspaper. What they fail to realize is that what they read/hear is only one point of view of a bias Media that has been criticizing Muslims with false information vigorously since 9/11.
Terrorism is CONDEMNED in Islam; it is not allowed, period. Neither is innocent murder, suicide of any kind, forced marriages or forced conversions. These are all misleading fabrications composed by the Media. You can't always believe what you hear.
Terrorists are not true Muslims; they use Islam as a mask to cover up their dirty work, and give Islam a bad name. Most of them are only Muslim by name, yet are still accused of acting upon Islamic teachings, when in actuality, they are not. It is not fair for the majority of Muslims, who oppose terrorism and denounce violence that is occurring. Unfortunately, the Media will never let this be known, making it look like Muslims support these radical actions, when in reality they absolutely do not.
Please refer to the following video. It is very true, and will provide valuable insight; I strongly recommend watching it:

wow selling wepons to the other side, now thats sports man ship, "darn, I forgot my missle" "thats alright my good man, have some of ours"
Anyway, this is just a tactic of George Bushes to win over the God squad of america. I belive in God and I don't think he endorses either side. Here in britain we don't have a huge concentration of christians in one area, No one ever said that God is on our side in this sense, (Although This is actually because it would offend our huge non christian population which the goverment is very big on). It anoys me when chritians say they are doing the lords work. Both religons are scared of the other anyway. Some how I get the feeling that this ansewr isn't up to the standard you wanted, and for that I'm sorry.

Sure, the monotheistic patriarchal gods seem to always figure prominently in modern warfare. Sometimes it seems that the victor thinks that they won because the REAL god was on their side. Invoking the name of one's deity is another method the powers that be innocent men and women to risk their lives and get killed, mixing an unhealthy dose of patriotism with religious zeal.
It is all sick sick sick! Hundreds of thousands of lives have been lost because one side said "my god can beat up your god." I have often thought that if women were in charge, wars would be so so so much less likely to happen bc women know first hand how much work and effort go into the creation of another living breathing grown up adult human being, from conception on.
Saying that any god is on anyone's side is just another lure to those who are still entangled in the trap of religious threats to believe or ELSE GO TO HELL.
It is terrible stuff. I am a pagan, agnostic, a Witch, a mother, a teacher and I am sick and sad about the state of affairs in the Middle East. We as homo sapiens are our own worst enemies.
Peace now.

Why are liberals so surely indoctrinated? Is it their crypto-non secular upbringing? i'm merely puzzled as to how hate radio and the 0.5 truths spewed from liberally-biased commentators could properly be so surely believed by potential of persons and have puzzled if the way intonations are made and the vocabulary used to describe specific issues is extremely equivalent to how preachers use their vocabulary mutually as giving sermons, even nonetheless liberals do no longer know their rhetoric has each and all the climate of a non secular ceremony?

because democracy was built from Christian ideals.
as for the war on Islam, that has not been mentioned outright, but it does sound alot like the language from right of the middle ages
there is probably no better cause for war than religion, since most religions are man-made and man is just a savage beast

The sole idea of God supporting one side of his own creation more than the other(s) is absolutely ludicrous. No God would tolerate war except for the God of war ;)
It is obtrusively obvious that Bush is a fanatic like all those crazy protestants who believe they are better than the rest of the world. It makes no sense at all to speak of God in a country where there are mostly Muslim people, especially if the one speaking is a Christian.
I agree, the innocent ones are the troops and the people who die while the so called powerful war lords are sitting comfortably at home with a glass of brandy and smoking cigars playing strategy on us.
War benefits no-one but them. God is not interest in that I assume. He wants us all to get along.

It has nothing whatsoever to do with Religion. In war, as with anything else involvingany kind of authority, I go by these three words. "FOLLOW THE MONEY"!!! Do that and you'll find out the REAL reasons that this world is in a terrible fix. FOLLOW THE MONEY!
