ok so first of; i just started being a vegetarian like two weeks ago. and i just wanted to know if my diet plan is a good one.
*breakfeast:
one bowl of bran flakes cereal.
(which really fills me up)

*lunch:
one bowl of salad with croutons and dressing(i figured that since all i'm eating is healthy stuff those things shouldn't do much harm)(i used to eat mcdonalds like everyday).

*dinner:
repeat either breakfeast or lunch.
normally it's the bran flakes b/c i love them so much.
all i drink throughout the day is water and once and awhile i might have a snapple.
also i eat barbeque sunflower seeds.
and every once and while have a couple of pieces of sour patch candy. but not the whole bag and not everyday.

and i'm gonna start feild hockey practice tommorow and cheerleading practice in two weeks.

should this help me lose weight? and how much.
right now i'm 5'7 and 160 and i want to be like 120.
and i used to eat junk food ALL the time.

thankx.

Lose the crutons and dressing.

You may want to focus on your health more so than your weight. You need to know that sugar, junk food, and fast food are not your friends when it come to being fit or healthy(being fit means you will be at your ideal weight). Too much of these thing will lead to a very unhealthy you.

Balance is the key to life; eating only convenient and processed food often containing growth hormones, preservatives, additives and seasons like MSG (see http://stayinformed.info/kitchen.html why you should stay away from wheat (gluten), MSG and other foods that causes obesity and hypertension) may lead to weight gain, obesity, diabetes, hypertension and other diseases.

Here are a few suggestions to becoming lean and fit:

Substitute your sugar drinks such as sodas and juices for water, green or ginger tea. Drink 30 minutes before or after each meal (see http://stayinformed.info/health/healthideas/suggareffects76.htm ).

When eating, help the digestive process. Take your time and chew your food 3 to 4 times longer than usually take ( break it down to almost a liquid). This will aid in the digestive process. Add fiber and substitute some daily choices like (fruits, vegetables, dairy, and meats) with organic selection. The organic foods do not contain the growth hormones, MSG, preservatives, gluten, and artificial flavoring may lead to weight gain.

Remove or reduce wheat, dairy, sugar, and processed food (junk foods, can foods, food in boxes, restaurants foods, fast foods, etc.).

Enjoy your life, exercise when ever you get the opportunity, go for a walk, jog, swim, go out dancing, play sports, or just do what you enjoy a lot and incorporate exercise. These things will get you on your way to being healthier which will translate into a smaller and more vibrant you.

This will help you to day tomorrow and for the rest of your life.

This years best diet plans can be found at DIETPLANSCIENCE.COM cost free. Does the word "diet and weight loss" immediately make you think of an unpleasant weight-loss regimen? If it did, you are probably not alone. For example, consider the use of the term "diet" in marketing food products—it usually describes foods low in calories, such as diet soda. But there is another meaning of this word. Diet can also refer to the food and drink a person consumes daily and the mental and physical circumstances connected to eating. The Merriam Webster Online Dictionary gives two definitions of nutrition: "the sum of the processes by which an animal or plant takes in and utilizes food" "the act or process of nourishing or being nourished" While both are correct, the second definition is more inclusive and suggests that food involves many different things, including love, satisfaction, and enjoyment. Nutrition involves more than simply eating a “good” diet—it is about nourishment on every level. It involves relationships with family, friends, nature (the environment), our bodies, our community, and the world. Choices about nourishment are very much linked to other human beings and other life forms on this planet, so healthy (and unhealthy) decisions have great impact.

You are at a healthy weight, but on the high end. You would be healthy as well at 120.

Your diet is totally inadequate. Their is not enough carbohydrate, fruit, vegetables, protein, or dairy. You will not get enough vitamins and minerals, especially Vit B12 , calcium and iron and may develop serious deficiency disease. Your only protein source is sunflower seeds and with BBQ seasoning they will be way too high in salt if you ate enough to satisfy your protein requirement.

Every day you need to eat at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables, 3 servings of whole grains, 2 servings of protein (can be beans), 3-4 servings of milk or dairy products. Your current diet is completely missing the protein and milk and doesn't have enough fruit. If the salad is large and includes things like carrots, tomatoes, peppers and does not include iceberg lettuce, you may be getting enough vegetables.

If you want to be a vegetarian you must learn how to get protein, iron, calcium, Vitamin D and Vit B12 without eating meat. This involves careful meal planning and adding beans, seeds and nuts to your diet. Are you willing to eat dairy products, eggs and fish?

See the link below for nutrition information. Or ask your parents to arrange for you to talk to a public health dietician about safe ways to avoid eating meat.

The second link below allows you to calculate your healthy weight.

If you like it, fine, sounds boring after awhile. Eat a handful of everything, fruit, veggies, sunflower seeds, meat, and you'll be fine. Stay away from stuff in a can, good on you for not eating junk food, or going to fat (fast) food joints. Learn to cook, if it is in a packet, or a box, probably not the best thing to eat. Ditto the candy, a handful, not the whole box. You took a long while to gain the weight, give yourself a break and take the time to loose it. Best of luck, chow.

40 pounds may take quite a bit of time, the diet plan sounds fine, you'll probably lose 10lbs rather quickly just by the reduction of calories and fitting in excersize. you may hit plateaus but it happens. you won't lose 40 pounds in a month, and you won't see your results over night.

bbq seeds are healthy fats, peanut butter is also a healthy fat, sometimes you have to intake fats to lose fat. and definately don't starve yourself, oatmeal is a great way to intake carbs because you still need carbs in a diet, just healthy carbs.

you'll definately lose weight though if you stick with it, perseverence goes a long way.

Add fruit and protein. Protein does not have to mean meat. Find protein enriched foods. With the amount of practice you say you will have, you need to keep your body nurished.

Its okay, but you're not getting enough protein. To get some protein you may want to add in dairy products, beans, and tofu.
