How do activate a copy of Windows xp?

I've read that after a fresh installation of Windows XP, Windows needs to go online within 30 days activate. What information will I need to have handy activate it?Or will it do it automatically?

It is actually pretty simple and straightforward. Once you setup Windows you will be asked if you want to activate at this time. If you say yes, then it will search for an internet connection and activate it without you doing anything at all. If you say no, then you will see a "key" icon in the corner of your screen and if you ever want to activate, just click on it to bring up the notice. If you don't have an internet connection then you can also do the call Microsoft by phone option, but I would recommend against it since it's much easier just to do it online.

Start, all programs, activate windows, just click and it will be activated, if it is denied then you have to call and they will activate it for you, your computer should be on the activation page the one has toll free call to Microsoft so you have to read the numbers on that page then they will give you new numbers to key in.

you can click on it you can activate over the phone its takes a little time but it is toll free it consists of you entering several strings of numbers which are only valid at the time of the call when completed your system will be registered
