i am in the air national guard and my contract is almost up so if i ecide to switch to active duty could they let me know if they have a slot open in hawaii or japan b4 i sign(my job is security forces so i know i could go anywhere)

Your chances of going active duty from the Air Guard are slim to none.

In 2007, the Air Force only allowed 40 prior service members to enlist for active duty.

Air guard and reserves are considered prior service.

You can try, but I don't believe your gonna have much luck.

But then the AF needs security forces right now.

Never hurts to ask.

prior service Air Force is closed for the year. The fiscal year opens in october and we will know then if a prior service program will be available. Comment above was right only 40 people were let back in, i put 1 of them back in. If you do get back in I wouldn't plan on hawaii or Japan

you will NOT be going Active Duty Air Force. They are not taking any PS people at all, not even ANG or AFR.

you may not negotiate duty station when transferring to AD in any event.

You're gonna get screwed and end up in Minot AFB, ND on the flight line. I don't "think" they can guarantee you anywhere... sorry.

They will tell you if there is openings, but not guarantee you'll go there.
