You are wrong about what kids can do on school grounds. Please see here:
http://www.ed.gov/policy/gen/guid/religionandschools/prayer_guidance.html
do you think it actually does anything good for you, to not know what's legal?
And thank you to the person who first pointed me to that site.

That they don't understand American history or the context of that time that The First Amendment was written in.
It has to be Freedom from religion because it is the only way that freedom of religion could ever be practically possible
The Puritans are the great American fairy tale.
Every school kid knows that the Puritans sailed across a very big ocean in a very small boat in order to escape religious persecution and the story kind of ends there.
What everybody seems to forget is that the society they established on these shores was just as represseive and intolerant to other religions as the one that they had just escaped from ;in effect they had become their enemies .
I mean these are the same folks who would later grow up to burn witches and have the State act as the enforcement arm of the Church
The Founding Fathers clearly understood the danger to their new democratic form of government of allowing the State to be the enforcing instrument of the Church and they said "No "
If somebody wants the freedom to practice or not practice a religion they will be free FROM the power of the majority religion and the power of States telling them that they can't do it. So far the idea of freedom from religion seems to have worked.

"Freedom of Religion is an unaleinable right and constitutional doctrine guaranteeing the ability of the individual to freely believe and practice religious principles according to his or her conscience.
In the United States, freedom of religion is a constitutionally guaranteed right provided in the religion clauses of the First Amendment. Freedom of religion is also closely associated with separation of church and state, a concept which was written of by Thomas Jefferson.[1]
The modern legal concept of religious freedom as the union of freedom of belief and freedom of worship with the absence of any state-sponsored religion, originated in the United States of America."

Freedom of religion means the government cannot make any laws regarding the establishment or exercise of religion, so any American is free to practice or not practice their religion as they see fit.
No freedom from religion means that the government cannot make laws banning religion or people practicing their religion in a public or private (i.e.: Non-government) place around you, even if it offends you.

Take your play and replace each be attentive to god with the be conscious devil. could you nonetheless help it? What if the college replaced into putting on a play that replaced into professional-satanism? Freedom of religion that a public college won't be able to discriminate against religions. If it helps one and facilitates a play then the different faith that ought to be heard needs to have the precise same therapy. If the college selections one faith over the others then it incredibly is violating the 1st modification. it is why the colleges ought to proceed to be secular. the colleges shouldn't work together in faith one way or yet another. truthfully, i ask your self how plenty time and capability and funds replaced into dedicated to this play that could have been positioned to greater useful use.

I think they mean that, although you can practice whatever you want - or not practise anything, you don't have the right to not be exposed to the religious practises of others. In the name of freedom of religion, we are banning religious displays and - much more disturbing to me - not allowing students to gather on school property for prayer if they choose. While I agree very vocally with the separation of Church and State, this constitutes a law restricting the free practice of religion, so I think it is unconstitutional.

The Us can not MAKE YOU BE a certain religion (like what happened in England before the US was created. The US can't, however, get rid of religion in a public place or anywhere in public. They do not have the right to get rid of religion.

Most frequently used by concervative Christians to justify their attempts to thrust their religion on everyone. It is their standard response to the prohibition on governmental support of public displays promoting certain religious beliefs.
The First Amendment says "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;..."
Many religionists feel that no one can prohibit the free exercise of their brand, they are a little less concerned about others' brand.
Many also refuse to recognize that "the free excercise thereof" includes the freedom to not believe (especially in their god).

It means you are free to practice whatever religion you choose or none at all. It does not mean the government should pass laws to restrict where religion is allowed just so you don't have to see it.

That it is a personal choice that each of us makes as what belief to follow. But I don't like when people want to take any expression of faith out of public view. Be it a cross or any other symbol that shows a belief of some kind.
And there are people out there doing just that. There is nothing wrong with showing a belief of any kind in public.

It means you have the lawful right to practice any religion without punishment. And that goes until you start violating other peoples' rights.
