A friend of mine had a Samoyed that got out and mated with a Collie. The result was Lucy, the cutiest dog ever. She had the Samoyed coat, with Collie colouring. her tail was long like the Samoyed, but did not curl round and hung like a massive toilet brush. She was just an amazing dog.

A hybrid would be the cross of 2 totally different species! All dogs have similar DNA. Now the mythical Cabbit (Cat/Rabbit) would be a hybrid. There is no idea mixed breed dog.

The best I've found is the one I have now--she's a chocolate lab/Weimeraner mix. She's the most loving dog I've ever known, and picks up commands we didn't even know we were giving her. She's diabetic, and after I gave her her insulin for the first time, ever since when she hears me mixing it, she goes to the same spot, sits down, and sticks out her leg. She's also mostly blind, but we didn't know until the vet told us--she memorized the house!

A friend owned a white shepard/wolf mix from Germany. It was a beautiful dog with a great personality. A good dog all around. Loved children and swimming in the pool.

The ideal hybrid dog is the one that is not born. There are just too many mutts in shelters for people to be intentionally breeding them.

Go to your local shelter and there you will find many "hybrid" dogs waiting for someone to save their life. Why not let that someone be you?

a hybrid is two different species---so I would say a cross between a large dog and an eagle: a dog that can fly me home if we get tired of jogging :)

My little muttley- no clue what he is- but I love him to pieces.

I would never purposefully produce another one of him though- too many great dogs in shelters.
