Thats all you hear people say, "Its to easy to get credit" I have certainly never found it easy, At 18 when my friends where getting tortured with credit card and loan junk mail I can honestly say I never received anything.
I tried to get a debit card from the bank at 18 again declinded, I tried to get a contract phone at 19 and only got one by putting down a £100 deposit, unfortuntaly I lost my job 6 months into the contract and was unable to pay, I missed payements for 2 months and then got myself back on track but since then I have found it impossible to get credit.
I'm 27 now had no credit since that contract phone but I can't get credit, I have been declinded credit cards,HP, even a mortgage a few years ago, it doesn't seem to matter a damn either I have quite a good salary.
I have checked my credit file and all is fine,
So I would say getting credit is certainly not easy, Oh 27 and still haven't even got a debit card, I still get declinded to this day

Get a copy of your credit report again, and look it over carefully. Look at every single item shown there. Is anything overdue? Has anything gone to collections? Are the names, dates, addresses, etc. all correct? Does anything show under a slightly different name, like maybe someone put another person's credit information on your file? If anything is not correct, WRITE A LETTER to the credit bureaus disputing the information, and ask that it be changed. Include documentation that supports your claims. You sound like you're in the UK somewhere. I don't know the rules there, but here in the states, the companies have to respond to a written request, but may ignore someone who just calls to complain.
If you do find anything negative, contact the company and make arrangements to clear it up. (That means paying the bill) Once it's paid, ask that they write a note to the credit companies and get it changed on your credit report.
Finally, start rebuilding your credit score. Get a secured credit card. This is one where you deposit enough money to cover your credit limit. You can charge against it, and then send in money to repay it. After maybe 6 months of doing this, apply for a regular credit card with a small credit limit, and use it occasionally. Pay it off every month. After another 6 months, you can try to ask to have the credit limit increased.
It takes time to build up a good credit score, but it's worth it.

You're probably getting declined because you don't have enough of a credit history & that one bad credit. So, how can you say it's fine? Many reputable banks do not give credit without a good history, and of course, you can't start a history if someone doesn't give you a chance - Catch 22. I don't know how credit is in the UK, but in the US, we do have credit cards even for people with bad credit, it's got a high APR percentage. There are even credit cards that like cell phones, you prepaid and use. This would be a good starting point. See if you can't locate one on this website.

Its probably because you don't have any credit. A credit score is worked out on how much credit you have and how regular you pay. The thing you need to do is get a credit card from somewhere like Capital one- the interest is higher- have small things and pay it off- but always keep something owing. They don't like people who pay off the balance and then go long periods without using it- the reason being that they like to see you are addicted to credit. Have you ever gotten a car loan? They are usually easy to get and establish credit. If you dont need a car, try a "bad credit" credit card that has an annual fee. It may be worth the $49 dollars a year to boost your credit score and establish a credit history.

Hi, I used to be refused credit, like catalogues and store cards, credit cards, etc. Then when I moved house, I got accepted for everything I applied for! I do know the previous tenants at my old place had debts, because I used to get their mail. And the place I moved to is newly built, therefore no previous tenants. I never thought your address had any effect on your ability to get credit, but it must do...

Have you had this investigated further? if someone has tried to fraudulently gain credit using your identity it will affect you being able to gain credit, this happened to my dad.
CAB is a bit crap but it's the only place I can think of for you to make enquiries.
